    1. prvide


    prvide为及物动词, 意为“提供”. prvide常与介词with或fr连用, prvide sb. with sth.表示“为某人提供某物”, 其同意表达为 prvide sth. fr sb.. 例如:


    Sheep prvide us with wl.


    =Sheep prvide wl fr us.


    羊供给我们羊毛.


    The Sun prvides us with light and heat.


    太阳给我们提供光和热.

    2. prefer


    (1)prefer是及物动词, 意思是“更喜欢、比较喜欢”, 相当于like better. 例如:


    Which d yu prefer(=like better), rice r bread?


    你比较喜欢哪一样, 米饭还是面包?


    (2)由prefer构成的短语:


    1) prefer A t B意为“喜欢A胜过B、比起B来更喜欢A”, 此短语中A和B的形式一样, 可以是名词、代词或者动名词, 但必须两个词形式统一. 例如:


    We prefer apples t ranges. 比起桔子来我们更喜欢苹果.


    My grandma prefers taking a walk t sitting in frnt f the TV.


    我奶奶宁愿去散步而不愿看电视.


    2) prefer t d smething rather than d smething意为“宁愿做某事, 而不愿意做某事. ”


    此短语中prefer 的后面用动词不定式, than的后面用省略t的动词不定式. 例如:


    They prefer t stay at hme and watch TV, rather than g ut fr a walk.


    他们宁愿呆在家里看电视, 也不愿意出去散步.


    3. fill


    fill表示“装满, 填满”, 可用作及物和不及物动词, 通常与介词 with 连用. 例如:


    Everything is filled with new life. 万物充满了生气.


    He filled the glass with water. 他把杯子装满了水.

    full 作为形容词, 意为“充满的”. be full f 意为“充满的”. 例如:

    4. weigh


    (1) weigh表示“称的重量”, 是及物动词; 表示“重(多少)”, 是不及物动词. 例如:


    He weighed the fish. 他称了这条鱼.

    He weighs 60 kils. 他体重60公斤.


    The meat weighs five punds. 这肉重五磅.

    (1)weight是名词, 意为“重量, 体重”. 例如:

    6. certain


    certain是形容词, 意为“确定的; 无疑的”, 相当于sure, 对应的副词为certainly. certain常用于以下结构中:


    be certain / sure f sth. 对某事有把握


    be certain / sure t d sth. 肯定做某事


    be certain / sure + that从句 确信 例如:


    They are certain / sure f success. 他们有把握成功.


    I’m certain / sure that he will cme. 我确信他会成功的.

    certain和sure的辨析:


    两词都含有“确信, 肯定”之意, 其区别如下:


    (1) certain为形容词, 不仅表示相信, 而且表示有根据, 主语既可以是人也可以是物. 例如:


    He is certain t cme. 他一定会来.


    It’s certain that he wn the game nw. 现在可以肯定他赢得了这场比赛.


    (2) sure既可以是形容词也可作副词, 常表示人的主观愿望或信念, 主语通常是人. 例如:

    (2)sund当名词讲时, 意为“自然界的各种声音”. 例如:


    Sund travels slwer than light. 声音传播比光慢.

    8. be crazy abut
