Surprisingly, this great translatr wasn’t gd at English at first. In primary schl, he ften failed English tests. His interest in English started frm stamp cllecting in high schl. Later, his teacher asked him t read English wrks, including dramas and speeches. That made him discver the beauty f language. He went t the Natinal Suthwest Assciatin University t study English in 1938. Until his death in 2021, he had published mre than 150 translatin wrks, dedicating his life t bridging Chinese and freign cultures.
