Micrplastics are widely knwn fr plluting ceans, rivers, and farmland. New research nw shws these tiny plastic particles (颗粒) als arrive thrugh the air and gradually build up in frest sils. Gescientists at TU Darmstadt reprt this finding in a study published in Nature Cmmunicatins Earth & Envirnment, highlighting a largely verlked frm f envirnmental pllutin.
“The micrplastics frm the atmsphere initially settle n the leaves f the tree crwns,” explains lead authr Dr. Cllin J. Weber. “Then the particles are transprted t the frest sil by rain r the autumn leaf fall, fr example.”
T better understand hw micrplastics gather, the research team cllected samples frm fur frest sites east f Darmstadt in Germany. They analyzed sil, fallen leaves, and atmspheric depsitin — the transprt f substances frm the Earth’s atmsphere t the Earth’s surface — using a newly develped methd cmbined with spectrscpic (光谱) techniques. In additin, the scientists created a mdel t estimate hw much micrplastic has entered frests frm the atmsphere since the 1950s. This helped them assess hw much f the ttal pllutin stred in frest sils can be traced back t airbrne surces.
“Our results indicate that micrplastics in frest sils riginate primarily frm atmspheric depsitin and frm leaves falling t the grund, knwn as litterfall. Other surces, n the ther hand, have nly a minr influence,” explains Weber. “We cnclude that frests are gd indicatrs f atmspheric micrplastic pllutin and that a high cncentratin f micrplastics in frest sils indicates a high input f particles frm the air int these ecsystems.”
The findings prvide an imprtant fundatin fr evaluating the envirnmental risks f micrplastics in bth air and sil. “Frests are already threatened by climate change, and ur findings suggest that micrplastics culd nw pse an additinal threat t frest ecsystems,” says Weber. The results may als have implicatins fr human health, as they reveal hw micrplastics travel glbally thrugh the atmsphere and may be present in the air we breathe.

Fr peple wrking deeply with AI tls, the cncept f “brain fry” is nthing new. Jack Dwney, Head f Strategy, Operatins and Prduct at Webster Pass Cnsulting, uses AI daily t build autmatin (自动化) systems and finds there is additinal mental pressure that cmes frm AI wrkflws. “I usually have several different windws pen... cnstantly waiting...” he said. “It might take five secnds t d ne task, 50 secnds t d anther task, and five minutes t d anther task.”
“Fr years, many predictins abut AI suggested the technlgy wuld allw fewer wrkers t d mre wrk faster. But if AI is already pushing wrkers tward mental verlad, rganizatins may need t rethink thse assumptins,” Bedard said.
If businesses dn’t figure that ut, their bttm lines may suffer. Wrkers experiencing AI brain fry reprted mre mistakes, slwer decisin-making, and higher fatigue. Bedard is clear that the slutin is nt abandning AI, but rethinking hw human wrkers best interact with these tls as AI develps fast.

A.assign AI tls t make mre decisins.
B.Give up the use f interactive AI tls.
C.Balance the human wrker-AI relatinship.
D.Replace mre human wrkers with AI tls.
15.Which f the fllwing is the best title fr the text?
