      The Inspiring Seed ScientistOn 25 September 2017, the scientific wrld was shaken by the news that Chinese prfessr Zhng Yang had died in a car accident. The well-respected bilgist had spent his whle life researching plants and seeds. Over the years, he cllected many imprtant seeds fr China’s seed banks. These special banks prtect all kinds f plant seeds, including the nes we
      need fr fd, and they make sure that imprtant plants d nt disappear frm the wrld frever.Zhng Yang was brn in 1964. When he was yung, he shwed a deep lve and curisity fr the things he studied. He was an excellent student, entering university at the early age f 15. There, he studied radi engineering and later became interested in plants. The research and study f plants, especially the seeds, became the fcus f his life after he became a prfessr
      at Fudan University.It is imprtant fr seed banks t include many different kinds f seeds. When Zhng Yang discvered that there was nt enugh research f the seeds frm Xizang, he went there t cllect seeds himself. In 2001, he began his travels acrss Xizang. It was very difficult fr him t brave the cld weather and great heights. He smetimes fell sick, but he always cntinued with his wrk.

He began a prgramme t find and train lcal students in field research t becme scientists.Tgether, he and his team cllected mre than 40 millin seeds frm arund 1,000 plants.Their hard wrk prvided the wrld with lts f new infrmatin abut the plants in China.Zhng Yang left behind mre than just a huge cllectin f seeds.
