Fr the next three weeks, she met her at schl withut fail. Lila taught her t d simple stretches t lsen her legs, and she cached her the key breathing rhythm: “breathe in fr three steps, breathe ut fr three steps.” “I 15 a name fr it—‘Step-Sync Breathe’,” Lila said with a smile. “It’s easy t remember, right?” Mia ndded, and as they practiced, she’d murmur the name under her breath t keep her pace steady. At first, Mia culd nly jg 200 meters befre breathing hard, but Lila never 16 her. She’d hand her a water bttle and say, “Yu made it 50 meters farther than yesterday—great jb.” Slwly, her legs grew strnger, and a small spark (火花) f 17 began t grw in her heart. She even started lking frward t their after-schl practices, enjying the way Lila shared her heart when she shared her wrries abut the test.
On the day f the test, the sky was vercast, and a cl wind blew acrss the track. Mia std at the starting line, her heart beating fast. When the whistle blew, she tk ff, whispering “Step-Sync Breathe” t herself as she fcused hard n Lila’s breathing trick. Halfway thrugh, her legs ached badly, and she wanted t stp—but then she heard Lila’s vice, lud and clear: “Cme n, Mia! Keep the sync!” Other classmates jined in, 18 her name. With a final push, she crssed the finish line in 3 minutes and 25 secnds—her persnal best.
As she bent ver, catching her breath, Lila jgged ver and they high-fived, grins bright despite the vercast sky. Mia brushed happy tears frm her eyes, glancing dwn at her wrn sneakers—scuffed (磨损的) but nw a 19 f hw far she’d cme. As they walked side by side, their steps naturally falling int the “Step-Sync Breathe” rhythm, she felt her chest steady, her legs lighter than ever. She stle a glance at Lila, and in that silent, matching steps, she knew: the strength she’d fund wasn’t just frm practice—it was frm the friend wh’d 20 pushed her t try.

D yu knw that if a dlphin echlcates (进行回声定位) n yu, it will see yur lungs and yur skeletn (骨骼)? Or that cws can see in frnt, t the side, and behind them all at nce?
While we humans are prisners (囚犯) f ur wn senses, the animals experience the wrld in ways we can hardly imagine. This is what Pulitzer Prize-winner Ed Yng explres in An Immense Wrld: Hw Animal Senses Reveal the Hidden Realms Arund Us. With lively stries, Yng shws that the way we see the wrld isn’t the nly way.
After reading the bk, I was shcked by the fact that we can send satellites int space and use AI every day, yet still hardly understand the creatures (生物) living right beside us. I especially valued hw Yng respects different ways f perceiving (感知) things. What lifts this bk abve dry science is Yng’s writing. His humr is frank (“I culd g n. I’m ging t g n”), and his metaphrs (比喻) are vivid: deep-sea creatures reacting t submarine (潜艇) lights as if attacked by glwing figures. Reading this felt less like a textbk and mre like an invitatin t wnder.
The bk’s last chapter is bth sbering (发人深省的 ) and hpeful. Humans have changed the envirnment in ways that harm animal senses: lights that cnfuse birds, flat surfaces that cause bats t crash. Yet we’ve als seen, during the quiet f the pandemic, hw quickly nature rebunds (复苏) when we step back. Restratin (修复) is nt nly pssible, but a chice. A chice that is urs t make.
Sme peple might be put ff by hw lng and dense (难懂) this bk is. But as a persn wh is nt really int science r bilgy, I still fund myself drawn in. An Immense Wrld will leave anyne with a new respect fr the living wrld arund them. And fr thse wh d have a passin fr bilgy r the animal kingdm— buckle up (准备好). This is a ride well wrth the admissin price.
27.What fact in the bk shcked the writer?
A.Each creature helps keep the balance f nature.
B.AI technlgies can tell animals’ senses clearly.
C.Humans knw little abut the animals clse t them.
D.Animal senses are mre pwerful than human senses.
28.What can we learn frm the last chapter f the bk?
A.It is up t humans t help restre nature.
B.Nature can hardly recver thugh given a chance.
C.Humans have changed their ways t get alng with animals.
D.Animals can easily change their senses t fit new cnditins.
29.What des the underlined phrase “put ff” in the last paragraph prbably mean?
      A.Amazed.B.Cnfused.C.Inspired.D.Discuraged.
      D

We all lve ur parents and turn t them when we’re in need, but wuld yu like them t hear the cnversatins yu have with yur friends n the schl playgrund r lunch line? Scial netwrking sites have becme extensins f the schl hallways, s wuld yu add yur parents as “friends” and allw them t view yur nline activities and cnversatins with friends?
In the past the generatin gap included a technlgy gap, where children were up t date with the latest technlgy and parents were left behind, cntent t cntinue their day t day lives as they always had because they had n need t knw mre abut technlgy. Hwever, mre and mre parents are beginning t realize just hw imprtant scial netwrks are in their lives. This realizatin has given many parents the mtivatin t educate themselves abut scial netwrking sites.
These days many peple are attracted t scial netwrking sites because they can chse wh they have arund them; there’s als a certain amunt f cntrl ver privacy that we dn’t get in real life. Smetimes we feel that privacy is vilated when we must accept a “friend” request frm a parent r family member.
It’s a difficult chice whether r nt t allw a parent t becme a part f ur nline lives. On the ne hand, we dn’t want t refuse their request because that might hurt their feelings r make them feel yu have smething t hide. On the ther hand, if yu d accept, then yu culd have a sense f being watched and n lnger feel free t cmment r cmmunicate the way yu did befre.
A recent survey suggested that parents shuldn’t take it persnally if their child ignres their request: “When a teen ignres a parent’s friend request, it desn’t necessarily mean that they are hiding smething, but it culd mean that this is ne part f their life where they want t be independent.”
Perhaps talking with parents and giving explanatins wuld help if yu d chse nt t add them t yur friends list.
30.What des the underlined sentence in Paragraph 1 mean?
      A.Students may lg in t micr-blg at schlB.Students begin t cmmunicate n sme websites
      C.Schls begin t build their hallways n the internetD.Students can find pictures f hallways n micr-blg
      31.Frm Paragraph 2, we learn that ______.
A.parents feel secure abut the privacy nlineB.scial netwrks successfully fill the generatin gap
C.parents have realized the imprtance f scial netwrksD.scial netwrks ffer a platfrm fr parents t cmmunicate
      32.Teenagers may refuse a parent’s friend request because ______.
A.they hide smething frm their parentsB.their parents make negative cmments n them
C.their parents tend t fall behind in technlgyD.they are unwilling t be watched by parents
33.Which f the fllwing is the best title fr the text?
      A.T Friend r Nt t FriendB.Say N t Parents’ Friend Requests
C.N Mre Privacy OnlineD.Generatin Gap bridged by Scial Netwrks
