These structures were als cmplex and unreliable, said Neil Gershenfeld, a physicist and directr f the Center fr Bits and Atms at Massachusetts Institute f Technlgy (MIT).
The new wing cnsists f a system f tiny, strng, lightweight mdules. The shape f the wing can be changed unifrmly alng its length using tw small mtrs, which apply a twisting pressure t each wingtip. These wings are cvered in “skins” f verlapping strips f flexible material resembling fish sizes.
