Scial platfrms have helped her find cmmunity, cnnectin, and a brader audience that resnates (共鸣) with her nature-driven aesthetic (审美).
Fr Andrea, the creating prcess is as imprtant as the finished piece. She
emphasizes hw imprtant it is “t nt get t cmfrtable” when creating, and t challenge yurself, frcing a deeper dive int yur wn thught prcesses. It’s this sense f persnal evlutin that gives each painting its emtinal resnance.
Andrea’s career cntinues t develp. She launched her website

A new prject is hping t save the threatened British swallwtail butterfly by rearing the insects frm frzen eggs — a prcess knwn as crypreservatin, where bilgical material is preserved at extremely lw temperatures fr future use.
This rare species — mstly black and cream with red and blue false eyes n its wings t discurage predatrs (掠食动物) — is nly fund in East Anglia and is
Britain’s largest native butterfly. It is typically seen in areas f the Nrflk Brads,
but living in such a limited area puts its future at risk. British swallwtails are
classified as endangered and are threatened by climate change, habitat lss and lss f genetic diversity. “Althugh this has been an excellent lng-term picture fr the
British swallwtail, it is ne f decline,” says Dr Alvin Helden at Anglia Ruskin University (ARU).
Experts frm ARU are nw testing new slutins t slw this decline further. “Our prject will cmbine fieldwrk and lab research t see if we can establish a
reliable methd fr preserving the British swallwtail’s genetic material by using its clsely related, but less endangered Eurpean cusin,” explains Helden. Using a
genetically similar Eurpean swallwtail species that is kept at ARU, they will try t raise butterflies frm crypreserved eggs that were frzen in liquid nitrgen (氮) at -196℃. Their gal is t see hw successfully they develp and reprduce cmpared with butterflies hatched frm nn-frzen eggs.
The team believes this is the first time smene has tried t use
crypreservatin fr butterfly cnservatin. If it wrks, the researchers hpe t use the methd with the British swallwtail, string its frzen eggs in case they can be used in future breeding and reintrductin prjects. “This prject prvides the pprtunity t create impact n cnservatin, fd prductin and bidiversity preservatin fr
human and planetary health,” says Helden.
8 .What des the underlined wrd “rearing” in paragraph 1 mean?
      A .Remving. B .Observing. C .Sheltering. D .Prducing.
9 .What is the biggest threat t British swallwtails?
A .Fierce predatrs. B .Restricted habitat.
C .Genetic shrtcmings. D .Envirnmental pllutin.
10 .Which f the fllwing steps prbably belngs t the prject?

B .Reprducing different butterflies’ genetic data.
C .Raising butterflies in extremely lw temperature.
D .Examining frzen-egg develpment in related species.
11 .What is the ptential gal f this prject?

Mdern surgery has gne frm lng incisins (切口) t tiny cuts guided by
rbts and AI. In the prcess, hwever, surgens have lst smething vital: the chance t feel inside the bdy directly.
“We started 30 years ag with pen surgery and using ur fingers,” said
Prfessr Albert Arezz frm the University f Turin, Italy. “Then we mved int the era f keyhle surgery.”
Frm the 1990s, keyhle surgery became increasingly cmmn. Patients
benefited frm shrter hspital stays and faster recvery. But this came at the expense f physical tuch. That matters because tumurs (肿瘤) ften feel different frm
healthy tissues — stiffer (僵硬的) r irregular — imprtant differences that experienced hands can detect.
A grup f surgens and engineers acrss Eurpe is nw trying t bring back
this vital aspect f surgery under the EU-funded prject PALPABLE. They are
develping a sft rbtic “fingertip” that can sense tissue stiffness during keyhle and rbtic surgery. By cmbining ptical (光学的) sensing, sft rbtics and AI, the
team is designing a sensr that mdels after the way a fingertip presses and feels
during surgery. It cntains fibre-ptic cables, each abut the width f a human hair,
implanted in a sft, flexible tip.
When pressed against the tissue, the tip defrms and the light travelling thrugh the fibers changes. Thse tiny shifts in light intensity and wavelength are prcessed
by AI, which then translates them int infrmatin abut tissue stiffness t create a
real-time sensry map. Instead f physical sensatin, the surgens see a clr-cded visual representatin f tissue stiffness n their mnitr, allwing them t “see” what they can n lnger feel.
The team has built early light-based sensrs and sft layers, with partners
refining and develping functinal films, and advancing sftwares t visualize
stiffness and sensry maps. The imprved mdel has been tested in their wn lab and will be validated in mre lab tests befre it is used n patients.
12 .What is a limitatin f keyhle surgery?
      A .Higher infectin risk.
      B .Lss f physical tuch.
      C .Slwer patient recvery.
      D .Lack f technlgy use.
13 .What technlgies are integrated int the sensr?
A .Fiber-ptic cables and pressure detectin.
B .Pain management and flexible tips.
C .Open surgeries and autmatic mnitring.
D .Light-based sensing and sft rbtics.
14 .What is paragraph 5 mainly abut?
A .Why frce intensity must be mapped.
B .Why surgens need clr-cded systems.
C .Hw AI cllects changing light signals.
      D .Hw pressure becmes a real-time image.
15 .Hw is the prject ging?
A .It has invented sft sensry films.
B .It has mved int clinical trials.
C .It has achieved accurate mapping.
D .It has reached the experiment phase.
