Mary Anning, and the Jurassic Cast are frever cnnected: their stries are marked nt nly in histry bks but als in the very layers f rck that make up this amazing part f the English castline.
Mary, brn in 1799 in Lyme Regis, became ne f the mst famus fssil hunters the wrld has ever seen. Frm a yung age, Mary and her brther Jseph explred the beaches and
rcksides, breaking the secrets hidden within the Jurassic Cast’s rcks. These were n rdinary rcks, preserving the remains f creatures that lived millins f years ag, during the Jurassic
perid. In Lyme, fssil cllecting was dangerus wrk. With strng determinatin, Mary mved acrss the dangerus grund beneath the cliffs during the lw tide in search f precius fssils, which held great scientific wrth.
In 1811, Mary discvered the cmplete bnes f an Ichthysaurus, a marine reptile (海洋爬行动物) lking like a dlphin. This was the first cmplete Ichthysaurus ever fund, and it
cmpletely changed ur understanding f these ancient creatures. Mary’s finds cntinued t
astnish the scientific cmmunity. Her discveries pened new ways fr scientists t study the ancient wrld.
Despite her cntributins, Mary faced many challenges. As a wman frm a wrking-class backgrund, she received little recgnitin fr her wrk. Many f her discveries were credited t
male scientists, and she ften struggled financially t supprt herself and her family. Yet, Mary’s devtin t her wrk never faded. She cntinued t study fssils, even when things were very
      difficult.
Tday, Mary Anning is celebrated as a pineer in fssil science. Her discveries helped shape ur understanding f the Jurassic perid and the creatures that lived during that time. Her stry is nt nly prf f her persnal strength but als an inspiratin t future generatins f scientists.

We have a prblem, and the strange thing is that we nt nly knw abut it, but als
celebrate it. Just tday, smene basted (自夸) t me that she was s busy she’s averaged fur hurs f sleep a night fr the last tw weeks. She wasn’t cmplaining; she was prud f the fact. She is nt alne.
Why are ratinal (理性的) peple s irratinal in their behavir? The answer is that we’ re in the midst f a bubble (泡沫). I call it “The Mre Bubble”.
The nature f bubbles is that smething is vervalued until — eventually — the bubble bursts, and we’ re left wndering why we were s irratinal in the first place. The thing we’ re vervaluing nw is the pinin f ding it all, having it all, achieving it all.
This bubble is being enabled by a cmbinatin f three pwerful trends: smart phnes,
scial media, and extreme cnsumerism (消费主义). The result is nt just infrmatin verlad, but pinin verlad. We are mre aware than at any time in histry f what everyne else is
ding and, therefre, what we shuld be ding. In the prcess, we have been sld a bill f gds:
that success means being supermen and superwmen wh can get it all dne. Of curse, we basted abut being busy — it’s cde fr being successful and imprtant.
And ur answer t the prblem f mre is always mre. We need mre technlgy t help us create mre technlgies. We need t mve ur wrklad t free up ur wn time t d yet
      even mre.
Luckily, there is a slutin t asking fr mre: asking fr less, but better. A grwing number f peple are making this change. I call these peple Essentialists.
These peple are designing their lives arund what is essential and remving everything
else. These peple arrange t have actual weekends (during which they are nt wrking). They
create technlgy-free znes in their hmes. They trade time n Facebk with calling thse few friends wh really matter t them. Instead f running t different meetings, they put space n their plans t get imprtant wrk dne.
S we have tw chices: We can be amng the last peple caught up in “The Mre
Bubble”, r we can jin the grwing cmmunity f Essentialists and get mre f what matters in ur ne precius life.
28 .When the wman said she nly slept fr fur hurs a night fr tw weeks, she .
A .was unsatisfied with her lifestyle
      B .was asking fr suggestins
C .knew few peple were like her
D .tk pride in ding s
29 .What is paragraph 4 mainly abut?
A .The cause and result f“The Mre Bubble”.
B .The advantages f“The Mre Bubble”.
C .The slutins t “The Mre Bubble”.
      D .The value f“The Mre Bubble” .
30 .Accrding t the text, Essentialists are thse wh .
      A .prefer t change frequently
B .give up certain things fr what matters in life
C .are tired f infrmatin and pinins
D .are eager t becme successful and imprtant
      31 .What’s the authr’s attitude twards“The Mre Bubble”?
      A .Supprtive. B .Undecided. C .Disapprving. D .Dubtful.
      D
Rtten seaweed is starting t pile up n beaches acrss the Caribbean. The uncntrlled blms f sticky brwn algae (藻类) called sargassum have becme an annual disaster fr the castal areas. Remving seaweed and sending it t the landfill is cstly and takes up declining space in landfills. Luckily, a cmpany in Grenada, a small island natin in the Caribbean, has a better idea.
The cmpany that wuld like t use Grenadian sargassum is SarGas, a start-up funded in 2023 t harvest the sargassum befre it hits the beaches and turn it int a renewable surce f fuel. The cmpany has set up a small machine called Digester that uses bacteria t swallw sargassum and release methane (甲烷), the main cmpnent f natural gas.
Instead f letting the methane escape and warm the planet, as it wuld if the sargassum rtted n the shre r in a landfill, SarGas cllects the gas and uses it t fuel the ven at a lcal bakery. Nw the start-up is applying fr a permit t build a bigger Digester that wuld pwer a bigas-fueled generatr (发电机) t make electricity fr Grenadians.
Generating electricity this way wuld be cheaper and cleaner, said SarGas CEO Benjamin Nestrvic. Almst all Grenadian electricity is made frm generatrs running n imprted diesel (柴油), which causes pllutin and frces Grenadians t pay sme f the highest electricity rates n Earth. That’s starting t change as Grenada installs slar panels, but bigas cmplements slar, because the sargassum-based fuel can generate electricity at night.
The first planned SarGas generatr wuld use 5,000 t 8,000 tns f sargassum per year. It culd generate 160 kil-watts f pwer, which is abut half a percent f Grenada’s peak demand. By saving diesel and preventing methane emissins at the landfill, it wuld avid the equivalent (等量) f abut 2,000 cars’ wrth f greenhuse emissins.
32 .Hw des the machine Digester wrk?
A .By trapping algae n beaches. B .By recycling rubbish in landfills.
C .By using a renewable surce f fuel. D .By breaking seaweed dwn fr energy.

A .It will remve the pressure f lcal landfills.
B .It will address a natinal envirnmental issue.
C .The natin will depend n imprted fssil fuels.
D .The natin will ffer new ecnmic pprtunities.
35 .Which f the fllwing is a suitable title fr the text?
A .Frm Seaweed t Pwer B .Frm Rubbish t Digester
C .Calling fr Cleanup in Beaches D .Turning Sargassum int Charity

I put n a headset, and within secnds I am smewhere else. Ice sheets flat n dark water. Wind brushes past my ears, sharp and restless. In the distance, muntains glw (发光) under the mnlight. This distinctin is clear, because learning abut a destinatin is nt the same as being there. Virtual travel ffers designed scenes and prgrammed sensatins, but it remains carefully
cntrlled. Real travel, by cntrast, is shaped by unpredictability. 39 In thse unplanned mments, understanding becmes lived rather than recrded.
Virtual reality will undubtedly cntinue t evlve, enriching hw we preview jurneys and imagine distant wrlds. Still, it cannt replace actual presence. Travel is nt simply abut seeing
