game technically gave in. Gamers call this kind f ending a “kill screen”. The Tetris prgram had n mre plays t make and s it crashed, freezing the vide game.
Gibsn lives in Oklahma and ges by the gaming name “Blue Scuti”. He repeatedly shuted “Oh my Gd” as he beat the game. “I can’t feel my fingers,” Gibsn said.
Gaming experts had lng cnsidered Tetris unbeatable. It came ut in 1984 and quickly
became a wrldwide favrite. Its creatr, Alexey Pajitnv, was a cmputer engineer at the Russian Academy f Sciences. During the game, players mve and jin tgether seven different shapes f falling blcks. The gal is fr players t fit the blcks tgether t frm slid lines. The blcks fall faster as players prgress thrugh higher levels.
Gibsn reached level 157 and drpped a final piece int place. This caused a single line f blcks t disappear and the game t enter a permanent (永久的) freeze. “This is staggering,”
Vince Clemente, CEO f Classic Tetris Wrld Champinship, said. “Develpers didn’t think anyne wuld ever make it that far and nw the game has been beaten by a human being.”
Other fans f the game were quick t share Gibsn’s excitement. Tetris chief executive
Maya Rgers jined in the celebratin. She said that it was fitting Gibsn had beaten the game just ahead f 2024, when Tetris was entering its 40th anniversary. “Cngratulatins t ‘Blue Scuti’,”

Pllinatin (授粉) is imprtant fr the reprductin f many plants. Sme rely n the wind r water fr pllinatin, but mst depend n animals t serve as the pllinatrs. Insects like bees, mths, and beetles als serve as the pllinatrs, helping with this prcess.
Unfrtunately, the wrldwide spread f light pllutin may be affecting the imprtant
interactins (相互作用) between plants and insects, causing bad cnsequences fr bth natural areas and agricultural lands.
A team f scientists in Switzerland recently studied hw the cmplex interactins between plants and pllinatrs were affected by artificial light at night. By setting up several grasslands
with LED street lamps, the scientists were able t cmpare the differences.
Fcusing n cabbage thistle, a type f plants, the researchers cunted 62% fewer insect
visits t the lit grasslands. They als nted 29% fewer pllinatrs than the nes in the uncntrlled lands, which resulted in 13% fewer fruits n the cabbage thistle plants they were studying.
Based n the fact that there was reduced fruit prductin in the cntrlled lands, the
scientists fund that the pllinatrs wh wrked during the day were nt able t make up fr the reduced activity f the pllinatrs at night. Additinally, there seemed t be the ptential fr a
very negative effect, because many f the plants sme insects are helping t pllinate are the mst imprtant surces f fd fr them.
Artificial light affects pllinatin, and thus fruit prductin, in tw different, but cnnected ways, accrding t a scientist frm Califrnia. Imagine a mth flying int a light at night — the
first way is by misdirecting pllinatrs. The secnd way is by cnfusing the sense f time f plants. Besides, plants and insects respnd t varying wavelengths flight differently. Mre research is needed t understand the cmplex interactins between plants, pllinatrs, and
different types f light.
“The annually increasing man made light imprves humans’ life. It causes bad
cnsequences fr the envirnment, hwever. We can never base ur life n the lss f the envirnment,” says Knp, lead authr f the study.

A .stpped bearing fruits in the end B .failed t be pllinated
C .were visited by fewer insects D .were mre attractive t pllinatrs
30 .What des the underlined part in Paragraph 5 refer t?
A .The starvatin f insects. B .The lss f pllinatin.
C .The reduced fruit prductin. D .The death f sme plants.
31 .What can we learn frm Paragraph 6?
A .Misdirected insects cnfuse plants’ sense f time.
B .Pllinatin and fruit prductin are related in tw ways.
C .The different effects f varying light n pllinatin are clear.
D .Artificial light affects plants’ pllinatin and sense f time.

Nwadays generative (生成的) AI tls like ChatGPT are flding int schls, prmising t transfrm learning. But in a recent study, researchers uncvered a hidden danger: the better
these tls perfrm, the mre they might drp students’ ability t think by themselves.
Nearly 1,000 students frm grade 9 t 11 in Turkey jined the study. They were divided
int three grups: ne with n AI access (使用权) — the cntrl grup, ne using ChatGPT, and ne using GPT Tutr — an imprved AI tutr designed by teachers which gave guidance instead f answers and included fixes fr cmmn mistakes. Over fur weeks, students used these tls during practice perids, and then were fllwed by exams withut AI help.
During practice perids, students using the ChatGPT scred 48% higher than thse withut AI. Thse using the imprved GPT Tutr scred 127% higher. Hwever, in exams withut AI,
ChatGPT users perfrmed 17% wrse than the cntrl grup. GPT Tutr users, n the ther hand, did just as well as students wh never used AI. This shws that while AI can better shrtterm
perfrmance, prly designed tls might hurt real learning.
Researchers fund that students using ChatGPT ften asked fr direct answers instead f
trying t slve prblems themselves. Abut 31% f their messages were simple requests like,
“What’s the’answer?” In cmparisn, GPT Tutr users spent mre time asking fr guidance r
explaining their details. The safeguards in GPT Tutr — like detailed guidance — helped students think critically. Withut these features, ChatGPT acted like a “crutch”, making students less
prepared fr their wn hmewrk.
Surveys als shwed anther fact. ChatGPT users felt cnfident abut their exam
perfrmance, even thugh their scres drpped. GPT Tutr users believed they learned mre, even thugh their exam results were similar t the cntrl grup. This suggests that AI tls might
create false cnfidence if nt carefully designed.
In shrt, generative AI has great prmise in educatin, but its design matters. Tls built
with teacher expertise and fcus n prblem-slving can help students learn. Thse that priritize speed ver understanding might d mre harm than gd.
32 .Which aspect f generative AI tls des the new research fcus n?
A .Its advancement. B .Its accuracy. C .Its flexibility. D .Its influence.
33 .What is paragraph 2 mainly abut?
A.Experimental design. B.Study results. C.Research backgrund.
D .Tl functins.
34 .Which request is a student using GPT Tutr likely t make?
A .Grade the mnthly test paper quickly. B .Prvide the best title f my cmpsitin.
C.Walk me thrugh this prblem step by step. D.Translate the fllwing sentence int Chinese. 35 .What d the surveys cncerning AI tls present in paragraph 5?
A .A misunderstanding f the prduct design cntents.
B .A mismatch between student beliefs and actual results.
C .Cnfidence is directly affected by cmplexity f AI tls.
D .Scres differ between ChatGPT users and the cntrl grup.
