I will always prefer a bk I can hld in my hand, the kind that smells f paper and glue. The material feel f it pleases me.
Fr me, a bk made f paper will always be a beautiful bject that warms a rm even as it expands (r entertains, r challenges, r infrms, r cmfrts) a mind, and a bkcase will always represent time itself. I walk past ne f ur bkcases, and I can tell yu exactly why a particular bk is still there, never remved as space grew limited.
When I reread a bk frm my wn shelves, I meet my wn yunger self. I am what I have read far mre surely than I am what I have eaten. By lking at ur bkshelves, I can tell yu wh my husband was, t.
Our bks ensure that I am still surrunded by all the selves I have ever been, and all the selves my husband has been. I prefer the messy shelves, the flded pages, the ntes written in a familiar hand.

Rbts can be prgrammed t mve a car and even perfrm sme peratins. Hwever, when it cmes t picking up smething that they have nt tuched befre, such as an egg, they ften fail. Nw, engineers have invented an artificial fingertip (指尖) which breaks that limitatin. It enables machines t sense bjects as a human fingertip des.
Engineers have been wrking hard t make rbts flexible and sensitive. When researchers frm a university began designing an artificial fingertip in 2009, they used human skin as a guide. Their first fingertip was abut the size f a cke can. By 2018, 3D printing made it abut the size f an adult's big te, with the multi-layered structure like human skin.
The latest breakthrugh is called TacTip. Scientists include artificial nerve netwrks int the fingertip, which enables a rbt t quickly prcess what it's sensing and act accrdingly like a real finger.
“A lt f ur sense f tuch is decided by ur skin,” says prfessr Benjamin, leader f the research team. In ur fingertips, nerve endings will defrm when the skin tuches an bject and then sends the signals t the brain abut what's happening. Similarly, the nerve netwrks f TacTip pick up and translate thse signals int the fingertip's actins, telling rbts t handle bjects f all shapes and sizes withut prgramming, accrding t Benjamin.
Sme scientists dubt whether TacTip is nly just skin-like. The signals frm the artificial and human fingertips are nt quite the same, as the signals in real skin are mre intense. Other scientists think highly f this breakthrugh. “At least it helps clarify hw human tuch wrks and is a necessary step t imprve rbtic tuch,”says prfessr Smith, a material scientist.

      C. Mtivatin can lead t unwise chices if nt cntrlled.
      D. Having strng ambitins always leads t acting carelessly.
      15. Which statement might Wadhwa agree mst?
