The vibrant girl she used t be seemed t have vanished. The nly thing that lingered in her mind was what her grandma had tld her befre she passed: “Even in the darkest times, there’s always a guiding star, like the Nrth Star (北极星), which can always navigate yu.”
One day, while enjying a cup f cffee at a lcal cafe, Mary’s friend Jenny apprached her with an exciting idea. “Mary, have yu ever thught abut stargazing (观星) in the wilderness?” Jenny asked, her eyes shining with excitement. Mary’s eyes widened, and a smile spread acrss her face. “Stargazing? That sunds incredible! Cunt me in.” she exclaimed, her vice filled with expectatin.
The plan was set fr a cl evening when the sky wuld be at its clearest. They began their jurney frm Mary’s huse. As they walked hand in hand, their breath turned int misty cluds in the cl night air. The mn was hidden behind thick cluds, casting a darkness n their path. But instead f feeling scared, they felt a rush f excitement washing ver them. The stillness f the night, brken nly by the sft whispers f the wind, brught a newfund peace t their mind.
Little by little, the city lights faded, and the stars abve became increasingly bvius. They culdn’t help but feel amazed by the cuntless stars that decrated the sky. They decided nt t chse the well-knwn path and wandered deeper int the wilderness. Fireflies (萤火虫) danced gracefully, lighting up the night sky.
Absrbed in chats and laughter, they failed t ntice when the familiar sights started t disappear, slwly getting swallwed by the tall trees f the frest.

When she sptted Tm and his friends, she made her way t them, nly t see Tm’s friends giggling. “Yur grandmther’s cme t pick yu up, Tm!” they teased. Tm glared (怒视) at his mther and walked up t her t stp her frm ging any clser. “What are yu ding here?” he blamed her. “Yu’re embarrassing me in frnt f my friends!”
“I just wanted t ask if yu wanted t watch a mvie with me,” she smiled , trying t hld his hand. Tm shrugged ff her hands. “Leave me alne! I’m with my friends!” he tld her.
Gina walked back hme sadly. When Tm gt hme that night, it was already half past eleven. He went straight t his rm, nt even realizing Gina was in the living rm.
“What’s the matter, Tm?” Gina asked him. “Why is it that yu dn’t like being with me anymre? I’m wrried abut yu, Tm. I rarely knw what’s ging n in yur life!” she said.
“Yu’re such an ld, bring wman! Why did yu even give birth t me?!” he yelled. Gina felt a pain in her chest. Befre she culd respnd, Tm grabbed his backpack and ran ut the dr.
