Once yu step n the grund f Abu Dhabi, yu shuld, and yu must, bey the rule.”
Listening t his respnse, my disappintment turned int annyance. As a persn wh knew nthing abut Islam, I felt that their custms seemed quite unusual. Back t the htel,I began t search fr the infrmatin f Eid and came t knw that every year there is a perid f time that Muslims g n fasting until sunset. Fr Muslims, the fasting is t purify themselves bth physically and mentally.
Glancing ver the infrmatin abut Eid, I felt guilty abut getting annyed with the guard. I realized that I shuld cnstantly understand and respect thers’ custms and beliefs. Althugh smetimes the beliefs f peple frm varius backgrunds are quite hard t accept, understanding the situatin better befre slving cnflicts is much mre effective. If yu seek happiness, then yu need t knw what happiness is fr yu. I dn’t believe there is ne universal definitin (普遍定义) f happiness. Happiness is a very subjective (主观的) emtin, accrding t me. Put tw peple in identical situatin: same amunt f mney, life experiences, etc. and yu can be pretty sure that they bth wuldn’t feel equally happy r equally sad. I believe this is s because there are tw kinds f happiness. There is ne kind f happiness, which is kind f universal and then there is the ther kind, which is very individual t each ne f us. It is this kind f happiness that I find mre interesting.
The secnd kind f happiness that I talk abut cmes frm ur expectatins ut f ur lives, which vary frm persn t persn. Fr example, a persn wh expects a lt ut f his r her life may find that happiness is hard t find. They are cnstantly in search f these thingsin life, which always seem t elude them. Thse things may be mney r fame r pwer r any f the ther pursuits (追求) that humans have, but it wuld be likely that such peple are less likely t be happy, if their gals are nt met. In mst cases, even after their gals are met, they dn’t find happiness, because they seek mre — new gals, new wish lists, and it’s a seemingly never-ending prcess fr them!
On the ther hand, a persn wh takes life as it cmes alng and makes the best f each day is mre likely t be happy every day. They have n pressure r gals t ccupy their minds and they can achieve happiness frm the simple pleasures f everyday life, finding lve, making time fr the family and kids, seeing their kids grw, etc. Of curse, that desn’t mean that yu shuldn’t have any expectatins at all. Yu shuld keep thse expectatins reasnable and manageable.
26.Which f the fllwing is the authr’s pinin accrding t Paragraph 1?
A. Happiness has nly ne universal definitin.
B. Every individual has his wn happiness.
C. There are n peple wh are really happy.
D. Happiness means having mney and pwer.
27.What des the underlined part “these things” in Paragraph 2 prbably refer t?
A. Daily demands.B. Life experiences.
C. Ideas abut happiness.D. Expectatins ut f life.
28.Even if their gals are met, sme peple still dn’t feel happy because _ .
A. they gave t much fr their gals
B. they dn’t knw what happiness is
C. they have new gals that need achieving
D. they think sadness is a never-ending prcess
29.What kind f persn is likely t be happy in the authr’s pinin?
A. He wh has a lt f expectatins.
B. He wh has n gals at all.
C. He wh has a great ambitin r dream.
D. He wh can find fun frm his daily life.
30.The authr writes this passage mainly t tell readers _ .
A. the reasns fr being happiness
B. the imprtance f happiness
C. t enjy every day t the fullest
