The same year that the fficial festival began, a handful f theatrical cmpanies gatecrashed the festival and rganised their wn event, which grew int what is nw called the Fringe Festival.
The term ‘fringe’ means smething n the utside f the main event, but ver the years, the Edinburgh Fringe Festival has becme the largest f all the festivals, and indeed the largest arts festival in the wrld!

      长难句分析
1.The same year that the fficial festival began, a handful f theatrical cmpanies gatecrashed the festival and rganised their wn event, which grew int what is nw called the Fringe Festival.
分析:这是一个复合句,其中that the fficial festival began是定语从句修饰 The same year;而后面which grew int what is nw called the Fringe Festival这一定语从句修饰event,另外在这个定语从句中what is nw called the Fringe Festival作了介词int的宾语从句。
2.There is als a multicultural festival called Mela, which celebrates the diversity f peple living in Edinburgh, in particular peple with Suth Asian rigins.
      分析:这是一个复合句,主句中called Mela是过去分词作后置定语;which引导定语从句修饰Mela这一节日。
