动词不定式作宾语补足语、目的状语的用法
上一个模块,我们学习了动词不定式作宾语的用法,本模块我们学习动词不定式的其他用法。
1. 作宾语补足语
动词不定式(短语)跟在某些动词的宾语后面,补充说明宾语的动作。
The zoo doesn’t allow visitors (feed) the animals. 动物园不允许游客喂动物。
Mr Han told us (not make) too much noise. 韩先生告诉我们不要弄出太多噪音。
Her words make us all (laugh). 她的话使我们都大笑起来。
Please help me (study) English.请帮助我学习英语。
【注意】(1) 有些动词之后跟带to的动词不定式(短语)作宾语补足语,如allow,want,tell,ask,advise等。
(2) 有些动词之后跟省略to的动词不定式(短语)作宾语补足语,如let,make等。
(3) 动词help后作宾语补足语的动词不定式(短语),带不带to均可。 即help sb. (to) do sth.。
2. 作目的状语
动词不定式(短语)作目的状语,既可以放在句子开头,也可以放在句子结尾。
Mary works hard (improve) her Chinese. 玛丽努力学习来提高她的汉语水平。
(know) more about blue whales,I borrowed some books from the library.
=In order to know more about blue whales,I borrowed some books from the library.
为了更多地了解蓝鲸,我从图书馆借了一些书。
【拓展】①动词不定式作主语
动词不定式(短语)作主语时,常用 作形式主语,把动词不定式放在句子的后面,构成“It + be +形容词+ to do sth.”句型,表示“做某事是……的”。
It’s sad (think) of pandas and other animals in danger.
= (think) of pandas and other animals in danger is sad.
一想到大熊猫和其他处于危险中的动物就令人伤心。
②动词不定式作定语
Today we have a lot of work (do) .今天我们有许多工作要做。

Animals are our friends. Sometimes they make trouble, but sometimes they can help us. And they hope to live a happy life, too. Here are two real stories from our readers.
The first story is from Ray.“My cat, Tiger, hates it when I use my tablet(平板电脑) because it takes my attention away from him. One day, I had a fall at home and was on the floor for 16 hours. During this time, I was unable to move and couldn’t get to the phone to call for help. Tiger stayed by my side until he disappeared under my bed.‘What’s he up to?’I wondered. To my surprise, he started to push something towards me. It was my tablet, which I didn’t realize had fallen off the bed and onto the floor. He probably didn’t know what it was, but he knew that it made me happy. Thanks to Tiger, I was able to communicate with my friend, Becky, who then told my doctor.”
The second story is from Colin.“Years ago, my friend Julius saved a bird — a wild ‘Mom’ cockatoo (凤头鹦鹉) from the side of the road and kept it as a pet in a big cage (笼子). The bird lost one of her wings, so she was unable to return to the wild. Soon, two wild cockatoos came to visit and one‘Dad’bird wanted to find his way into the cage. The‘Mom’cockatoo in the cage was soon expecting. But as she couldn’t fly, the‘Dad’cockatoo built a home in the tree, keeping off everyone who got close to the‘Mom’cockatoo. The‘Baby’cockatoo would spend his days flying off with his dad, leaving his mom behind. She would sit and wait until they returned home each afternoon. The family stayed together happily.”
