Cecil is an elderly man frm Cincinnati, Ohi, wh was lking frward t spending time with his family ver the hlidays. They were all cming t visit him at his Elmwd Place hme, including his adult grandsn David. One afternn, while napping in bed, he was awakened by the sharp ringing f his telephne.
“Wh wuld ring me up at this time？” He wndered. Peering twards the phne, he hesitantly picked it up. Frm the receiver came an urgent vice. “Grandpa, this is David. I am in truble.” Befre Cecil culd ask him any questin, he cntinued, n and ff, half crying, “I hit a wman's car and she was seven mnths pregnant. And they charged me with drunken driving and I'm in prisn...” He sbbed ludly. His vice was s brken that Cecil culd hardly match it with the gentle and warm vice f his grandsn. Pr David! He must be suffering! Cecil panicked immediately.
Withut mre detailed cmmunicatin, the phne was passed suddenly t anther persn—David's lawyer wh had a deeper vice. Seemingly, he understd Cecil's anxiety and attempted t cmfrt him with a slutin. “Nw the nly way t help David is t g t Wal­Mart and transfer $2，300 t anther stre. I wuld pick up the mney and then use it t pst David's bail (保释金).”“I am sure everything wuld be OK as lng as the mney is in place，” he added. Ultimately, he lwered his vice, “Dn't tell anybdy. Yu dn't want t make yur grandsn lk ugly in yur neighbrhd.” The lawyer hung up even befre Cecil culd give an answer.
