Mindfulness practice has explded in ppularity recently. Experimenters f a series f trials revealed mindfulnessbased interventins had sme benefits fr a number f health utcmes. They said, the effects were smaller and less cnsistent when cmpared with thse f ther therapies, and sme effects faded sn. Taken tgether, mindfulnessbased interventins are better than nthing but mre research is needed t cmpare them with ther therapies.
All mindfulnessbased interventins attempt t fcus n the present mment. Thugh “t be present” has psychlgical benefits, in sme circumstances it's imprtant t be mindless. That is, as yu develp skill in new tasks, yu can perfrm them with increasing facility until attentin seems t be unnecessary. Everyday examples range frm riding a bike t brushing yur teeth.
Underlying this state f “autmaticity” are mental prcesses that can be accmplished withut paying attentin t them. Research revealed paying much attentin t what yu're ding can have damaging effects, particularly when yu perfrm tasks that are nt intricate at all fr yu.
In a study, scientist Sian Beilck and her clleagues had skilled glfers play glf under different experimental cnditins. In ne case, the glfers were simply asked t fllw the swing f their club and say “stp” as a sign when they finished their swing. In the secnd cnditin, they were instructed t listen fr a specific sund while ignring ther nises and say the wrd “tne” when they heard the target sund. The result shwed the skilled glfers perfrmed substantially wrse when they zered in n their swing than when they cncentrated n irrelevant sunds and even when they warmed up.
The imprtant message frm this research is that fcusing t carefully n wellpracticed things can cause mistakes. Of curse, yu shuld nt resign yurself t ging thrugh life n autmatic pilt. But there are situatins where yu shuld let autmaticity take ver. The next time yu ride a bike, dn't verthink it.

B
结合文章第一段内容和倒数第二段中Franc Cagnli的话可知,第一段中的“a missin that affected bth the village and him deeply”指帮助复兴罗卡卡拉西奥。
根据第三段的“It began as a twer in a line f cnnected structures t cntrl and prtect the land that stretched inland frm the Adriatic Sea”可知,这座城堡最初是一排相连的建筑中的一个塔,其目的是控制和保护从亚得里亚海延伸到内陆的土地。
根据最后一段Befani的话“the cmplete revival has much t d with permanent residents”“Tday's teenagers, like my children, are prud f their land and are happy if they can stay here”可知,Befani认为,罗卡卡拉西奥的彻底复兴与长期居住的居民有很大联系,如今的青少年为罗卡卡拉西奥感到骄傲,如果他们能留在这里,他们会很高兴。
根据第一段的“Experimenters f a series f trials revealed mindfulnessbased research is needed t cmpare them with ther therapies”可知,实验者们认为基于正念的干预措施对健康有一些积极影响,与其他疗法相比,基于正念的效果较小且不太持续。
根据第二段中的“until attentin seems t be teeth”和第三段首句“Underlying this state f ‘autmaticity’ are mental prcesses that can be accmplished withut paying attentin t them”和第四段描述的研究发现可知,人们在做从骑自行车到刷牙这类轻车熟路的事时会进入一种自动化(autmaticity)状态。
根据第四段的“In ne case, the glfers were simply asked t fllw the swing f their club”“In the secnd cnditin, they were instructed t listen fr a specific sund while ignring ther nises”可知,在第一种情况下,参与者要关注他们的挥杆过程;在第二种情况下,他们要留心听一个特定的声音。
根据第一段的“We've never dne such a thing with any wildlife, but the situatin has becme such an emergency that it has t be cnsidered”可知,喂养海牛计划是同类计划中的第一个。
根据下文的“Peple are naturally designed t try t perceive emtins a persn is likely t be feeling”可知,本段主要讲述要理解他人的感受并知道他们为什么会有这样的感受。
