    2.Lead-in
    The 2022 Men’s Wrld Cup is nging in Qatar. There is a very ht tpic—yu can’t miss Chinese elements in and arund the stadiums. In the fllwing sentences, which sentence states the wrng fact?
    One culd take a nap in a “mbile htel” built by Chinese engineers.
    Sccer players might have matches in stadiums built by Chinese cnstructin cmpanies.
    One may buy the cute masct (吉祥物)f La’eeb made in China.
    Nne f them is wrng. China is impressing the wrld peple with its advanced technlgy.
    3.Presentatin
    Sme students are vicing their pinins abut the nging Wrld Cup. Pay attentin t the bld wrds.
    He culd be ill because he turned pale(Bb).
    Five-time winners Brazil must be favrites t lift the Wrld Cup trphy in Qatar. (Lucy).
    This team might nt win in the grup stage if they dn’t change their strategy. (Mark)
    Nw, answer these questins.
    What d the wrds in bld indicate: an rder, a request, ability, r a pssibility?
    Will the meaning f sentence (a) change if we replace “culd” with “must” r “might?”
    Bld wrds indicates a pssibility. Must dn’t state the fact. Lucy is predicting wh the winner is. Bb and Mark are bth stating the pssibility f an event.
    Which mdal verb describes the largest pssibility and the smallest pssibility? “Must” shws that yu think smething is quite true. Use “might” r “culd” t shw that smething is pssibly true. We can replace “culd” with “might” instead f “must”.
    D yu remember the relatin between “may” and “might”, “Might” is mre tactful in tne and has the smaller pssibility than “may”.
    4.Practice
    练习1:Nw rewrite the underlined sentences in the cnversatin using must/may/might/culd. (书上)
