“When we talk about salted duck eggs, we think of Gaoyou,” says David Yan, who lives in Jiangsu and works in a travel company. “This county(县) is especially famous for these eggs, and has got a reputation(名气).”
The county is in an area with lots of waterways, such as Gaoyou Lake, which is good for the production(生产)of duck eggs. But that's not the only reason. This area is also rich in salt, which is necessary for salting the duck eggs.
In the late 18th century, Yuan Mei, a famous writer in Qing Dynasty once wrote,“ Salted eggs from Gaoyou are the best of all. They have deep red yolks(蛋黄)with oil.”He also suggested a way to enjoy salted duck eggs,“ Put the whole egg on a plate, cut it in half, and enjoy the yolk and white all together. One should not remove the white and only keep the yolk, or the taste would not be complete.” Such sayings help raise the reputation of Gaoyou salted duck eggs.
In fact, eggs with double yolks are especially famous in Gaoyou. They make up 2% to 10% of the eggs laid by Gaoyou ducks. To increase the frequency(出现率)of double-yolk eggs, Gaoyou's duck farmers would select the ducks. Besides, to find double-yolk eggs, the farmers put the eggs over a light to see if the eggs have two yolks before they salt them.
Now, Gaoyou's double-yolk eggs are sold all across China. And their price is often several times more than that of the one-yolk eggs.
1.What job does David Yan probably do?
A. A duck farmer. B.A travel guide.
C. A local cook. D. A famous writer.
2.Why is Gaoyou good for the production of salted duck eggs?
① It has lots of waterways.
② It is in the east of China.
③ It is in an area rich in salt.
④ It is warm all year round.

3.What does the underlined word “ remove” in Paragraph 2 probably mean in Chinese?

D. Why many Gaoyou's salted eggs are double-yolked.

How do you usually go to school; walk, cycle, take a bus or drive?
Most people know that students who go to school by bus or car are more likely to put on weight than those who walk or cycle. But did you know that exercising less could also make you fall behind in your schoolwork?
Two Danish universities recently carried out a study of 19,527 students between the ages of 5 and 19. The students were asked how they traveled to school and were then given a test. It was found that the students who were driven to school, or took a bus, performed worse in the test because they had poorer concentration(集中注意力)than those who took a more active way.
"As a third-grade pupil, if you exercise and ride a bike to school, your ability to concentrate increases to the equivalent(同等) of someone half a year further in their studies," said Niels Egelund, a member of the study.
Depending too much on ears is also a problem for adults. British people are much lazier these days. They are walking 80 miles less every year than ten years ago, a new study found.
“This creates a huge illness problem and lowers their quality of life, but most people don't seem to know that it's a problem,"said Harry Rutter from the National Obesity Observatory;UK.“A lack(缺少) of physical activity is the fourth main cause of early deaths around the world and causes about the same level of ill health that smoking does.”
