    Teaching prcedure
    Step 1 Learn and write
    Say: Imagine yu have received the letter that a stranger wrte t yu. Yu want t reply t it.
    Ask students t write their hme address r the address f their schl by using the address in Sidney’s letter as a mdel.

    Nte1: Explain t students ‘NE6 SBY’ is a pstal cde. In many cuntries, a pstal cde is part f a persn’s address. It is usually a grup f letters and numbers. A pstal cde makes it easier fr the pst ffice t deliver letters.
    Nte2: Explain t students that it is cmmn practice t leave ut punctuatin frm addresses, dates, greetings and cmplimentary clses. Remind them there is n indentatin in an address.
    Have students chse the better way t start their letter.

    Nte: Explain that chice ‘a’ is the better stat because it is friendlier. And remind them when they reply t a letter, they usually start with an expressin f thanks.

    yur favurite hbbies
    smething abut yur family and yur hme;
    infrmatin abut yur schl;
    yur ambitin
    Have students chse the best way t end their letter.

    Put the date under the address.
    Paragraph 1 -- yur starting sentences
    -- infrmatin abut yurself (age, height, hair and hbbies, etc.)
    Paragraph 2 -- infrmatin abut yur family (parents, brthers and sisters, pets and yur flat, etc.)
    Paragraph 3 -- infrmatin abut yur schl l(name f yur schl, yur favurite sprts, best subject, yur ambitin, etc.)
    Paragraph 4 – a sentence abut yur pht

    Write yur name clearly.
    Have students write their reply t Sidney’s letter accrding t the pattern.
    Have students cmplete the envelpe fr the letter t their friend.
    Nte: 1. The address f the recipient is in the middle f the envelp, beginning apprximately halfway dwn.
    2. The return address is in the upper left hand crner.

    Step 2 Lk and guess
    Say: Hwever, when yu are writing t yur pen-friend fr the first time, prper descriptin f yurself is necessary and imprtant.
    Ask students t lk at the table and let them guess wh it is describing.

    Step 3 Listen, cmplete and talk
    Say: Accrding t the given infrmatin, we can guess it is describing Sidney. Nw, Sidney and his friend Mary are als playing this guessing game. Sidney is describing fur friends. Mary must guess wh they are.
    Have students listen t the tape and cmplete the table fr Mary belw.
    Key:
    Give students six phts. Ask them t chse the fur friends that Sidney described, and write the numbers next t the names.
    Have students lk at the pictures f Tim Green belw and cmplete the table. And Encurage them in pairs ask and answer sme ‘wh-‘ r ‘h-‘ questins abut him.

    Step 4 Learn and d a game
    Say: If yu acquire prper and wnderful wrds f describing, yur letter will appear mre attractive.
    Help students learn mre wrds t describe peple.
    Eight pictures f peple are given t the students. Play recrdings f fur descriptins f peple amng them. After each descriptin, encurage students t tell the class the number f his r her picture as quickly as pssible.

    Transcriptin 4: He is a yung man with shrt fair hair. He lks fashinable. A pair f blue glasses is well matched with his blue eyes. He is well-built. He lks handsme in blue shirt.

    Step 5 Read, learn and talk
    Say: Smetimes, we wuld like t share ur idls with pen-friends. It is nt easy t describe a famus persn well. Let’s lk at a picture first.
    Shw a picture f Hng Kng’s famus star, Jackie Chan. And ask students t say smething abut him.
