Step 1: Warm-up & Lead-in
1. Greetings.
2. Lead-in.
The teacher shws a picture f a lady, whse name is Thera.
(课件出示:一位女士的图片)
T: This is my friend. Her name is Thera. Hw ld is she? When is her birthday? Can yu guess?
Ss: She is thirty. Her birthday is n May 4th.
Make a cmpetitin between bys and girls.
Step 2: Presentatin
Listen t the chant.

T: What are the mst sunds in this chant?
Ss: /θ/ and //.
T: Great!
2. Read the chant.
(1)Students read the chant and try t find ut the wrds with “th” which sunds /θ/r //.
T: Lk at the chant. Can yu find ut the wrds with “th” which sunds /θ/ r //?
(2)Check the answers: birthday/three/thirteen/brther/the/third/
mnth. (出示课件)
3. Create a situatin.
Let students learn the wrds with “th” which sunds “/θ/”. The teacher
shws sme pictures.

4. Sum up.
Students try t sum up the prnunciatin rules f “th”. The teacher demnstrates. Students try t imitate the prnunciatin.
T: Bys and girls! Can yu find ut the prnunciatin rules f “th”? Please discuss and say.
5. Create anther situatin.
Let students learn the wrds with “th” which sunds “/ð/”.
T: Bys and girls! We knw “th” can make the sund f /θ/. And it has anther sund. Can yu guess? Nw let’s have a lk!
6. Read, listen and chant.
The teacher plays the recrding f “Read, listen and chant”. Students imitate. Try t spell and read ut.
T: There are sme ther wrds with “th”. Please try t read.

T: Please read the stry. Then find ut all the wrds with “th” and circle them. Finally, try t guess what happened t the caterpillar.
(1)Let students read the stry The Very Hungry Caterpillar.
(2)Students circle the wrds with “th”.
(3)Students try t read the new wrds by the syllables.
