    选择性必修第一册综合检测题

    第一部分 阅读(共两节, 满分50)

    第一节(15小题;每小题2.5分, 满分37.5)

    阅读下列短文从每题所给的ABCD四个选项中选出最佳选项

    A

    Martín Ramírez from Argentina

I think it is okay for scientists to grow geneticallyengineer food because they can develop better food and this can help with the hunger problem all around the world. Scientists can help us to have more and better meats to eat by cloning only the superior animals. I don't think that we should worry so much about geneticallyengineered food.

    Angela Fernandez from Mexico

I don't know if the tomatoes we find in supermarkets are genetically manipulated or not. What I do know is that they are very bad! A tomato grown with sun and soil is much better. In the case of strawberries, actually, most strawberries we can find are very tasty. I guess, however, they have been genetically manipulated, too.

    Vera Sirotkina from Russia

If we manipulate vegetable genes, we can also do with human genes. So it may be possible that a substance which is left in food could get into a human body while the person is eating. Then, is it possible that this substance could modify the person's genetic structure?

    Pinar Müfftler from Turkey

I don't agree with the idea that scientists should not grow geneticallyengineered food because it is not safe. If they want to make progress, they should do experiments. It's important to keep trying. If they don't keep trying, they will never be able to develop new technologies. Maybe these technologies won't be successful in the beginning, but if scientists keep trying, they will develop new ways.

1Of the people above, who is obviously against geneticallyengineered food?

    APinar Müfftler from Turkey.

    BMartín Ramírez from Argentina.

    CVera Sirotkina from Russia.

    DAngela Fernandez from Mexico.

2As far as Pinar Müfftler is concerned, ________.

Adeveloping such food is a better way to solve world hunger

Bexperimenting on such food shouldn't be allowed

Cnew technologies will make such food safer to eat

Dthis kind of food is much better and tastier

3What do we infer about Martín Ramírez?

AHe doubts whether such food is safe.

BHe worries that the crops will spoil.

CHe doesn't like vegetables and fruits.

DHe is in favor of cloning animals.

    【语篇解读】本文叙述了四人对转基因食品发表的观点。

1D 细节理解题根据What I do know is that they are very bad可知Angela Fernandez明显反对转基因食品

2C 细节理解题根据“Maybe these technologies won't be successful in the beginning, but if scientists keep trying, they will develop new ways. ”可知Pinar认为未来新技术会让食物变得更安全

3D 细节理解题根据“Scientists can help us to have more and better meats to eat by cloning only the superior animals.”可知他支持克隆动物

There was a time in my life when beauty meant something special to me. I guess that would have been when I was about six or seven years old, just several weeks or maybe a month before the orphanage (孤儿院) turned me into an old man.

I would get up every morning at the orphanage, make my bed just like the little soldier that I had become and then I would get into one of the two straight lines and march to breakfast with the other twenty or thirty boys who also lived in my dormitory.

After breakfast one Saturday morning I returned to the dormitory and saw the house parent chasing the beautiful monarch butterflies who lived by the hundreds in the bushes scattered (分散的) around the orphanage.

I carefully watched as he caught these beautiful creatures, one after another, and then took them from the net and then stuck straight pins through their heads and wings, pinning them onto a heavy cardboard sheet.

How cruel it was to kill something of such beauty. I had walked many times out into the bushes, all by myself, just so the butterflies could land on my head, face and hands so I could look at them up close.

When the telephone rang the house parent laid the large cardboard paper down on the back cement (水泥) step and went inside to answer the phone. I walked up to the cardboard and looked at the one butterfly that he had just pinned to the large paper. It was still moving about so I reached down and touched it on the wing causing one of the pins to fall out. It started flying around and around trying to get away but it was still pinned by the one wing with the other straight pin. Finally its wing broke off and the butterfly fell to the ground and just trembled (发抖) .

I picked up the torn wing and the butterfly and I spat on its wing and tried to get it to stick back on so it could fly away and be free before the house parent came back. But it would not stay on it.

4According to the passage, the author's life in the orphanage was ________.

Adull and full of strict rules

    Bsimple and easy

    Chappy and full of hope

    Dhard and busy

5What is the author's attitude towards the house parent's pinning some butterflies on the cardboard?

    ATolerant.   BUnconcerned.

    CDisgusted.   DDiscouraged.

6We know from the passage that ________.

Athe author lived alone in the dormitory

Bthere were one hundred butterflies living in the bushes

Cthe cardboard paper was left on the step so as to be watched

Dthe author failed to stick the worn wing onto the butterfly with his spit

7Which of the following is TRUE according to the passage?

AThe author found beauty meant nothing special to him.

BThe house parent helped the children handle the quilt.

CThe house parent chased the butterfly in order to show it to the children.

DThe author thought it cruel to catch the butterfly.

Have you ever thought about leaving your apartment and digging yourself a nice, comfortable hobbit hole in a hill? Cosmo and Elfie's family lives in such a house in a village in Wales.

Our round house is really one big room Elfie says. “It's easy to talk to each other! If Mom is cooking and I'm playing with my toys, we're still in the same place.”

Cosmo and Elfie's parents built their unusual home using stone, mud (), and wood from the forest near their house and recycled materials. They use solar energy for electricity, and their running water is from a nearby river. Everything was designed to work in harmony with (……协调一致) the environment.

Cosmo says he prefers their village to an ordinary, neighborhood because it gives him the freedom to run around the fields and ride his bike without worrying about traffic.

In fact, encouraging other people to live like them is one of the goals of Cosmo's family. They believe that by growing their own food, recycling, and using local sources for energy and supplies, they are protecting the earth from further damage caused by modern living.

Cosmo and Elfie's parents will soon begin to build their third selfbuilt woodland home.

Mom and Dad are building a threebedroom hobbit house next Elfie says. She says she looks forward to living in it when she grows up.

Like his sister, Cosmo also says he plans to continue living like a hobbit when he is older.

When I grow up, I really would like to live in a round house Cosmo says, “but I would have more rooms.”

He's sitting on the outside of the windshield (挡风玻璃) when I get into the car. Just another fly. A pest.

I shut my door, a little harder than usual.

He doesn't move, but Mom looks at me angrily. I understand the look. That's the don'tshutthedoorhard look.

Sorry I say. This is going to be a hard day. First, the look. Later on, my math test.

    Mom starts the engine.

    The fly doesn't move.

    Mom starts driving.

    The fly holds on.

    Is this fly dead?

No. I see him pull both wings closer to his body.

My school is far away. We're talking miles, a few at least. Will flyguy make it?

He changes the position of his tiny fly feet to get a better hold on the windshield.

The wind blows him to the right.

    Flyguy holds on.

The wind blows him to the left.

    Flyguy holds on!

The wind flattens him against the glass. His legs stretch (伸展) out completely straight.

He presses his little fly face against the windshield and refuses to be blown away.

Go, flyguy, go! You can do it! I know you can! We're almost there and flyguy is hanging in there.

Hey, I feel great! I can take on anything, too! If one tiny fly can ride a car for this long, well, I can pass my math test.

    Go, flyguy, go!

Mom stops the car in front of the school.

My hero, the flyguy, made it! It's like he rode a whale through the ocean in some sort of Olympic competition. Flyguy is the goldmedal winner!

I carefully get out of the car. Putting my head back in through the open window, and whisper to Mom, “Let me know if he makes it all the way home.”

    【答案】One possible version

    Dear Jack

Thank you for your letter and telling me your new plan of the year 2021. Our new school has been set up and we moved into it. In order to build a “green school”I would like to call on my classmates to make it.

First, to add beauty to our school, we are going to plant more trees on campus. Recycling is always the best method to protect the environment, so, second, we will recycle bottles, plastic bags and waste newspapers. Furthermore, we will make an effort to save energy at school, for example, we will turn off electrical appliances the moment they are not being used.

I believe united efforts can make our school a real “green school”. Do you think so?

    Yours

The next morning he took two baskets of vegetables to town. But it was raining hard that afternoon and there were few people in the street. When his vegetables were sold out, it was dark. He bought some medicine and hurried to his village.

On his way home he saw a person lying on the snow. He placed his baskets on the ground and was going to help the person to get up. At that time he found it was a dead man and there was much blood on his body. He was so afraid that he ran away quickly, without taking the baskets with him.

The next afternoon the farmer was sent to the police station. Having shown the baskets, an officer asked, “Are these yours? ” “Yes, sir. ” the farmer answered timidly(胆怯地) . “Have you killed the man? ” “No, no, sir. ” the farmer said in a hurry. “When did you see the dead man? ” “At about seven last evening. ” “Did you see who killed the man? ” “No, sir. ” The officer brought out a knife and asked, “Have you seen it yet? ” “No, sir. ” The officer became angry and told the policeman to beat him up and sent him into prison. 【答案】The officer was so angry that he asked the policeman to beat him up again. The farmer was very afraid. He thought he would be sentenced to death by killing people. But he didn't kill the man, he was innocent. He must tell people the truth, but no one could hear his voice. He hoped that someone could come and save him.

The farmer was lucky. A few days later, a young man came to the police station with a lot of journalists, saying that he saw the murderer. It was the police officer who killed the man on the snow! He saw the police officer used a knife killing the man late in the evening. He was so frightened and ran away. But the young man thought the farmer was innocent. So he took the great courage to expose the real criminal. After the investigation, the young man was right.
