This isn't the first French law designed t beat back the influences f digital technlgy in everyday life.In 2017 the gvernment passed a law requiring French cmpanies t draft rules that limited wrk emails and wrk­related technlgy utside the ffice.Referred t as the “right t discnnect”， French fficials said the law aimed t reduce jb­related stress and prevent emplyee burnut.
“Emplyees physically leave the ffice，but they d nt leave their wrk.They remain attached by a kind f electrnic tie，” said Bent Hamn，frmer French educatin minister.“The texts，the messages，the emails: they cntrl the life f the individual t the pint where he r she eventually breaks dwn.”
