This isn't the first French law designed t beat back the influences f digital technlgy in everyday life.In 2017 the gvernment passed a law requiring French cmpanies t draft rules that limited wrk emails and wrkrelated technlgy utside the ffice.Referred t as the “right t discnnect”, French fficials said the law aimed t reduce jbrelated stress and prevent emplyee burnut.
“Emplyees physically leave the ffice,but they d nt leave their wrk.They remain attached by a kind f electrnic tie,” said Bent Hamn,frmer French educatin minister.“The texts,the messages,the emails: they cntrl the life f the individual t the pint where he r she eventually breaks dwn.”
