一．Teaching objectives

1. Learn the words and phrases from the context.
2. Develop the students’ reading and writing skills. Also deal with the language goals in this unit: talk about thing around you.
3. Experience the changes of hometown and show the love for hometown and country.

1. Train the students’ reading skills. (give them a “summary” or an overall meaning of each paragraph )

四．Teaching procedure

Step1. Warming up and leading in.

Learn some new words by watching a video about people leaving hometown to work in cities and talking about some pictures. Then discuss the questions in 2a

1. Why do millions of people leave the countryside every year?
2. How often do you think the people visit their hometown?
3. What new building does the government usually build in town and villages?

Step2. Predict(Fast- read).

1. Get the students to predict “What’s the passage mainly about?”

A. Something about Zhao Wei

B. Changes in hometowns

C. People’s feeling of their hometown

.   2. Read and check

Read the whole passage and find out “What’s the passage mainly about?”

A. Something about Zhao Wei

B. Changes in hometowns

C. People’s feeling of their hometown

Ask students to try to tell the way of finding it.

Step3. While-read.

1. Read Para. 1 and answer the questions in TB. (Then retell it according to the answers )

 Check the answers and train their reading skills.

2. Read Para. 2＆3 and answer the questions. (Then retell )

   1) Does he regard with great interest how his hometown has changed?
