They have t wrk arund the clck, standing n street crners thrughut the university keeping watch. It's a thankless jb as mst students grw used t seeing fficers all arund and finally hardly even ntice their presence.
    Hw culd we shw them ur appreciatin? We rented a truck and asked its driver t drive us arund the place where we knew the fficers wuld be and we pured them each a cup f ht chclate.The truck driver was a bit hesitant (犹豫的) abut ur plan at first but after a while he was helping us spt fficers and ur lively spirits had spread t him as well. Smiles and appreciative wrds frm the fficers impressed us a lt. Sn they were talking abut us ver their radi and we were the nes being sptted and called ver. Finally, the ht chclate seemed secndary (次要的) t their interest in meeting us, the tw bys that went arund with ht chclate expecting t share sme late­night laughter. It was amazing t see hw a small simple act can lift everyne's spirits.

She curiusly asked, “Mum, what are yu ding with the mang plant?” Her mther tld Radha that she was making space fr the new friend f Radha.Radha didn't understand what her mther wanted t say.
    Observing Radha's cnfused expressin, her mther said, “My dear, yu want a friend with whm yu can stay all the time, but yur friends als have a mther wh wuld wrry abut them. S I have brught this mang plant.”
    Radha understd what her mther's pint was, but she didn't understand the rle f the mang plant. She questined, “Mum, I understand but then again why d yu have a mang plant?”
    Her mther replied, “Dear, this plant will be always with yu as yur friend.He will grw up beside yu. Share yur thughts and secrets with him. Water him. This friend will nt nly prvide yu with shade but will give yu fruits.”
    Radha happily watered the mang plant and prmised t cherish (爱护) it. This was Radha's new friend...

    “Nw then,” Mr. Radcliffe asked as he walked int the living rm. “Philip, what's all this abut? Are yu alright?”
    The by seemed perfectly relaxed abut the appellatin (名称). “Srry, Mr. Radcliffe,” he sbbed.“My father's just left hme. He's nt ging t live with us anymre.Mum's crying.It's made me cry. I dn't think I'm ging t see him again.”
