Unit 1 What should we do before help arrives?

【知识点】imagine

及物动词，意为“设想，想象”，其主语一般是表示人的名词或代词。在表示“想象或认为某人做某事”时，可接名词、代词或动名词作宾语。

2. But he could have trouble hearing you or speaking to you. 但是他有可能很难听到你说话或者和你对话。

【知识点1】could

意为“可能”，表示推测，可用于肯定句、否定句和疑问句中。

【知识点2】trouble

此处为不可数名词，意为“问题；困难”, have trouble (in) doing sth. 做某事有困难。

如此......以至于......,在这个结构中，such后面要用名词

1. such+a/an+adj.+可数名词单数+that...

☞He’s such a clever boy that everyone likes him.

他非常聪明，大家都喜欢他。

2. such+adj.+可数名词复数+that...

☞They are such interesting books that I want to read them again.

这些书如此有趣，以至于我想再读一遍。

3. such+adj.+不可数名词+that...

☞He made such great progress that the teachers are pleased with him.

他取得如此大的进步，以至于他们的老师们对他很满意。

 【拓展】so... that...

在so...that...这一结构中，so后面可接形容词或副词。

【注意】

如果such后面的名词前有many, much, few, little等词修饰时，则不用such而用so。

☞There are so many people in the park that I can’t find my little sister.

When the plane was waiting at the airport，a big snake climbed up the steps and into the plane. It went to sleep under the pilot’s(飞行员) seat. Nobody noticed. Soon the passengers(乘客) get on the plane and it took off. A little girl called Mary took out a whistle(哨子) and began playing. But none of the passengers liked the music. They got the stewardess(女乘务员)to ask the girl to stop.

The sound of the plane’s engines(发动机) woke up the snake. It put its head out and looked around the captain’s(机长的) room. When the captain saw the snake, he was so frightened that he could hardly breath. He was so afraid that he could not control(控制) the plane. The plane began to swing（摇晃）from side to side. The stewardess told the passengers what was happening and ask them to calm down. Mary was not afraid. She ran to the captain’s room with her whistle and began to play the slow tune(曲子). At once the snake followed her. The girl returned to her seat and the snake lay on the floor beside her. Dancing to the music.

When the plane landed the airport the snake was taken in a net to a zoo near Mary’s house. She often went to visit the snake.

Fire is useful and important to us. You use it to cook meals every day. But if you are not careful, the fire may happen anytime. Many people get hurt or die in fires. So knowing how to protect yourself in the fire is very important.

When the fire happens, the first thing you must do is to find safe routes(路线) to get away quickly. If you are in the taller floors of the building, you can’t use the lift. You should run out along the stairs. From the lower floors of the building, you can jump out through the window if it is necessary(必要的).

If you can’t get out of the room, you must be careful of the smoke. In fact, most of the people in fires die from the heavy smoke. Find something wet to cover your nose and mouth. Keep low to the ground, and you will take in(吸入) less smoke. And you can also open the window, keep your head outside to get fresh air and shout for help.

Remember: Nothing is more important than your life. You must leave everything behind, your money, your pets and so on. After you’re out, don’t go back for anything.
