Ⅰ.阅读理解
阅读下列材料,从每题所给的四个选项(A、B、C和D)中,选出最佳选项。
A
Being an Olympian (奥运会选手) demands focus, determination, and a competitive spirit. Plus, representing your country is a lot of pressure. However, two athletes recently showed the world another quality that is definitely worth championing.
Qatar's Mutaz Essa Barshim and Italy's Gianmarco Tamberi were competing in the high jump on Sunday when they reached a stalemate (僵局). Both men had managed to jump over a surprising 2.37 meters with no faults along the way. However, after three attempts neither managed the next level of 2.39 meters.
An Olympic official suggested a jumpoff between the two friends and rivals (竞争对手) to determine who would get the gold medal. But Barshim had another plan to reward their efforts.
“Can we have two golds?” he asked the official.
The official agreed and the two men jumped for joy. This was the first time a gold medal had been shared since 1912.“He is one of my best friends, not only on the track, but outside the track. We work together. This is a dream come true.” shared Barshim.
The decision to share the medal was particularly meaningful to Tamberi. The Italian had suffered an ankle injury that prevented him from competing in the Rio Olympics in 2016, and it nearly put an end to his career altogether. So this year he brought along his cast to this year's Olympics with “Road to Tokyo 2021” to inspire him along the way.
For Barshim, the gold has topped off his already impressive medal collection, having received a bronze and a silver medal in 2012 and 2016 respectively.
Despite all the glory of receiving a gold medal for their countries, their achievement means so much more. These two individuals, trying to do their very best for their countries, have provided a wonderful example to all those competing in sports. They've summed up exactly what it means to take part in a global event with a generous and compassionate (有同情心的) spirit.
1.What happened to Barshim and Tamberi in the competition?

Officer Jonathan Smith, 30, was called to Bond Lake near Lewiston, New York, after receiving reports of a little dog that had fallen in about 50 yards from the shore. In this heartinmouth footage (镜头) captured by a fellow officer's bodycam (人体摄像头), the brave police officer threw off some equipment before dashing out onto the ice, without any caution for his own safety.
The owner had been walking the 10monthold dog around the lake on January 5 when Kona spotted a distant flock of geese landing on the water and ran towards them. Horrified, Kona's owner watched as the dog fell into the freezing water at the edge of the ice.
In an email to Lewiston Police Department, the owner wrote: “Although she is a strong swimmer, there was zero chance of her getting back out onto the ice and she began to panic and tire quickly.”
The witness nearby called 911 right away, and 15 minutes later, Officer Smith and two other officers from the Police Department arrived. Without hesitation or rescue equipment, the officer removed his uniform and gun belt and ran over the ice towards the exhausted Kona. When he got close enough to her, Officer Smith grabbed the dog and pulled her from the water so she was able to run back over the ice to her owner.

I have witnessed countless acts of selfless heroism, Officer Jon Smith's actions rank high in my book.” The owner was an author, who has written many books.
Lewiston Police Department posted the bodycam footage from the rescue on their Facebook page, along with the message from Kona's owner.
5.Why did the dog Kona run to the lake?
A.Kona wanted to play on the ice.

Travelling with some of your favourite people is an exciting experience. If done well, group travelling can be the most thrilling experience ever, filled with games, laughter, and unforgettable memories. __1__ Read on for some of the things you need to note and do for an enjoyable experience.
__2__
Ideas are usually exciting when they are fresh. The longer you delay, the more you'll find excuses not to go. Let all interested parties meet as soon as possible to decide on dates, locations and budget. It's best to plan the trip three or four months in advance.
Assign roles
For the trip to be successful, it has to be well organized. You're going on a trip far from home, not the shopping mall. This is why the group should assign a leader who would be responsible for planning and organizing the trip.__3__ Break them down further. For example, choose someone to handle booking a hotel and another person to take care of the meal.
Budget pool
__4__ You can do a weekly or monthly payment plan before your trip. Once you decide how much would fund the trip, members can start contributing the money weekly or monthly. The leader would then use the money to pay for accommodations, meals, transportation and more while you're on vacation. If there's money left in the end, split it up or go wild one last night.
Create a flexible itinerary (行程)
An easy way to create and share an itinerary is through Google Docs. Add the group members to the document and give them permission to edit it. Suggest one or two optional activities per day which do not require advance bookings, such as a local hike or museum.__5__
A.Start early.
B.Get fresh ideas.
C.So how do you plan for your group trip?
D.Collect a set amount from everyone before your trip.
E.Don't forget to create room for something unexpected.
F.Also, divide the other responsibilities as they arise so that everyone participates.
G.The group leader generally keeps in contact with everyone, handling most of the detailed work.
