Reading
The bld circulatin tracing begins with the venus bld which returns t the right atrium by the superir vena cava and inferir vena cava.
This venus bld enters and fills the right atrium, and the tricuspid valve pen. Then the atrium cntracts and frces the bld ver the pen valve int the ventricle, which has already been passively filled and nw becmes well distended by the extra supply. After a brief pause (pssibly 0.1 sec.) the ventricle cntracts, the tricuspid valve clses, and the bld is frced ver the pen semilunar valves int the pulmnary artery.
The pulmnary artery divides int tw branches and carries bld t the lungs, where it passes thrugh the innumerable capillaries that surrund the alveli f the lungs. These capillaries unite t frm small veins, and these veins unite t frm larger veins up t the time when finally tw pulmnary veins return the bld frm each lung t the left atrium. We call this track and curse pulmnary circulatin.
The left atrium nw cntracts and frces the bld ver the pen bicuspid valve int the left ventricle. The bicuspid valve is clsed in the same way as the tricuspid des, and after a brief pause the left ventricle cntracts, frcing the bld ver the pen semilunar valve int the arta, frm which the bld travels t its branches and the capillaries f every part f the bdy. The capillaries unite t frm small veins, and finally the bld is returned t the right atrium thrugh the large veins, which cmpletes the circuit. Such track and curse are called systemic circulatin.
The lesser circulatin, frm the right ventricle t the left atrium, is called the pulmnary circulatin. The purpse f the pulmnary circulatin is t carry the bld which has been thrugh the bdy, giving up xygen and cllecting carbn dixide, t the air sacs f the lungs, where the red cells are recharged with xygen and the carbn dixide is reduced t the standard amunt.
