2022浙江高考英语总复习专题冲刺之七选五提高训练(五)A    Navigation skills seem to come naturally to some, but others aren’t so lucky. 1 Firstly, it’s a good idea to put the Satellite Navigation away. In a University of Nottingham study, drivers who’d followed step-by-step GPS instructions found it harder to work out where they’d been and even failed to notice they’d been past some places twice from different angles. 2 At least, the amount of mental energy it requires means it’s more likely to stick in your mind.3 It’s important to notice what’s around you — in all directions. Instead of staring straight ahead, make sure you look up, down and behind you as well. This will come in particularly useful when you're doing the journey in reverse — even if it’s just finding your way back from the toilet in a restaurant. Another tip? Taking photographs or writing notes at key locations can act as hints to stick them in your memory. Finally, try to relax when you’re on unfamiliar ground. 4 But this sudden burst of anxiety will only increase your mental load and prevent you from calmly working out which way to go.Ultimately, your sense of direction is a use-it-or-lose-it skill. 5 So now’s the time to start exploring!AStaying alert is key, too.BIs it possible to improve your sense of direction?CSticking to the routes you already know won't help.DIt’s all too easy to panic if you suspect you may be lost.E.It allows you to get a sense of how everywhere fits together.F.Memorizing the route before setting out, instead, has its benefits.G.If you re sick of getting lost, here’s how to start finding your way. B Many people are well aware of the benefits of teaching our children to love reading. 6 Here is how you fit yourself in regular reading with your children.Select a suitable time of day. The most suitable time of day is often bedtime but it might not be suitable for you. So it is important to consider your free time throughout the day. If reading a goodnight story at 8 pm. has you yawning(打哈欠)and trying hard to remain awake, perhaps a story before dinner, or a story in the afternoon will work out better. 7 Break down the reading if necessary. Rather than try to go through five chapters of a large book each night, cut it down to two chapters. 8 When the choice is nothing at all, books with fewer chapters will be much preferred by your child.Read loud together. 9 If an older child who is able to read finds this “unfair” or “annoying”, you can let him read something that interests him and read it out loud to the family. Another way to gather more than one child is to read stories in turn and have each of them listen politely. As a result, they will love hearing and favor such group activity.10 It goes a long way. When your children read anything -the label off a packet or a book, be sure to praise their reading at every chance you get. Thus, you are creating a reading culture in your family, which is an important way of helping children cope with their feelings and problems, as well as answering their curiosities, and developing their imagination.ARead every night.BPraise your children.CRather than read five storybooks, cut it down to two.DDo remember a suitable time for reading varies among children.E.When you have more than one child, make reading done together.F.You need to direct this decision to make it fit in rather than miss it.G.Less easy to do, however, is finding regular time to read with our children. C Business meetings are a necessary part of any organization where people work collectively to accomplish a goal. But badly managed, meetings can be unproductive, boring and feel like a complete waste of time. In a recent survey conducted by governance technology firm e-Share, it was found that the average UK employee spends over 10 hours weekly preparing for and attending meetings-approximately 50% of which they consider unnecessary. 11It’s very likely for an AI (Artificial Intelligence) to be able to recognize when one person is hijacking a meeting, or if a discussion keeps returning to a single issue. If no new points are made after a while, the AI could suggest wrapping up. “If AI can do most of the hard routine work during meetings, that leaves more space for humans to think about strategy and vision,” believes Niki at the Big Innovation Center in AI. 12 The city of Osaka in Japan started using an AI as a minute taker to transcribe and summarize the 450 annual cabinet (内阁) meetings. It has divided the time needed to produce summaries and cut staff overtime.13 If a meeting with irrelevant subject matter is called, or if it's an inconvenient time, an AI could be used to decide who should attend the meeting and when it should be, says Elise Keith from a US-based meeting management platform. One Stockholm company starts up Mentimeter (人机互动).14 Using the software, participants can make open-ended responses, submit comments or vote in multiple-choice quizzes. “This has fundamentally changed the dynamics of a presentation,” says Austin Broad from financial services firm AFH Wealth Management. While tools that can create agendas, send meeting invitations, distribute the minutes, and keep track of action items should improve effectiveness, they are still in development. 15AThis seems to be true.BBut AI isn’t quite there yet.CAI can also help with the matter of attendance.DWith AI, it will be easy for companies to be flexible.E.It allows meeting attendees to give feedback about a discussion.F.Let’s hope that if they do arrive, they will meet our expectations.G.However, there are theories that technology, like AI, could improve things. D  In theory, achieving a healthy weight should be pretty easy, right? Just eat fewer calories and work out regularly to burn fat and build muscle. But, as we know, there are a variety of factors that can affect your weight beyond what you eat and your activity levels. 16 It's no secret that quality sleep is a foundation of any healthy lifestyle — getting enough zzz's supports mental clarity, a longer attention span, higher energy levels, a stronger immune system, better moods, and improved memory. 17 If you're looking to lose weight this year, it's better to consider not only diet and exercise but also rest.18 If you're not getting at least seven hours of sleep per night, your metabolism (新陈代谢) can actually slow down, which means you can passively pack on extra pounds because you don't burn as many calories throughout the day and night. 19 It produces the hormone (荷尔蒙) that improves your appetite and decreases the hormone that makes you feel full. And because sleep loss can affect the part of your brain responsible for decision-making, you won't always make the right choices when you're tempted to eat another scoop of ice cream or finish a plate of french fries. The effects can be even more straightforward, too.20Then all those calories add up. Not to mention that if you're feeling tired because you didn't catch enough shut-eye, you're much less likely to get to the gym or go for that after-work jog.AHow can you improve your sleep?BWhat happens when you don't sleep enough?CSleep is another important, but less talked about, factor.DThe more hours you're awake, the more time you have to snack.E.But there's also a significant connection between sleep and weight.F.Here are some tips that can help you get those 7 precious hours of sleep.G.A lack of sleep can also leave you feeling hungrier and longing for certain high-calorie foods. E What are the things that scare you: snakes, spiders or fierce tigers? Or maybe you have a fear of heights or visiting the dentist. Although some of us just get scared or a bit nervous about these things, for others it can cause an unreasonable reaction that can’t be controlled-something we call a phobia (恐惧症). 21Sometimes it’s good to be aware of the possible dangers from things. Our brain warns us of the risks that might lie ahead, but then we often get prepared and overcome them. Clinical psychologist Warren Mansell told the BBC, “Our fears are rooted in our brains-we don’t need to learn to be afraid of animals like snakes or spiders.”22With a phobia, your breathing gets quicker, your pulse speeds up, you sweat and your brain is unable to control these reactions.23 Speaking to the BBC, Lauren Rosenberg, a fear and phobia expert, says, “Phobias usually are a copy behaviour from a higher authority, like a parent or teacher, or a kind of mental suffering from a past event that comes back to trouble you continuously.” There are many different complex phobias some people suffer from, such as agoraphobiacaused by being away from home, and iatrophobia-fear of doctors.24Therapy (心理治疗) is one choice, where you gradually get used to whatever it is you fear. Lauren Rosenburg says she likes to work with people to clear their bad memory and help them breathe. But if you do have a phobia, continually trying to avoid what you’re afraid of by yourself is likely to make the situation worse.25AThen how can they be overcome?BBut where does a phobia come from?CBut phobias are stronger than just fears.DThe right thing to do is to find help to overcome it.E.Overcoming a phobia can take patience, devotion and courage.F.Are there any phobias that tend to be more common than others?G.It occurs when someone develops an unrealistic sense of danger about a situation or object. F  Despite the many ways to communicate, good communicators share in common important principles and techniques that enable them to communicate effectively. The characteristics of good communicators cut across all languages and cultures. Becoming a good communicator has many benefits and advantages. 26Good communicators listen. Listening is an important component of communicating effectively. It shows other people that you are sincere and interested in what they are saying. 27Listening enables you to weigh and evaluate various issues before you produce a response.Good communicators communicate clearly whether in writing, speaking or gesturing. In terms of speaking, good communicators project their voices with a firm tone to ensure that people can literally understand them. In terms of writing, good communicators use the appropriate words to convey different senses of meaning. 28Good communicators organize their thoughts to ensure that what they communicate comes out in an organized fashion. 29Good communicators also organize what they say into concise statements that are easy to understand by the listeners. This way it is not too difficult for listeners to follow what they say.30When a speaker shows that she is genuine about what she says, listeners are likely to believe the speaker because of the sincerity with which she speaks. Sincere communicators usually communicate convincingly because they are willing to put their beliefs on the line for the sake of communicating the truth.AGood communicators are sincere.BAlso, it allows you to correctly respond to people.CGood communicators must have a strong vocabulary.DGood communicators have sympathy for others' suffering.E.But what kind of qualities does a good communicator have?F.The meaning of communication is to help people understand each other.G.This allows them the ability to make a clear explanation with examples and illustrations. 1根据上文“Navigation skills seem to come naturally to some, but others aren’t so lucky.(有些人似乎天生就有导航技能,但其他人就没那么幸运了)”可知,那些不那么幸运的人指的就是方向感差因而总是迷路的人,GIf you re sick of getting lost, here’s how to start finding your way(如果你已经厌倦了迷路,下面是如何开始找到你的路)契合上文,并起领下文,接下来是一些帮助你记路的方法。故选G项。2根据空前“In a University of Nottingham study, drivers who’d followed step-by-step GPS instructions found it harder to work out where they’d been and even failed to notice they’d been past some places twice from different angles.(远离卫星导航是个好主意。在University of Nottingham的一项研究中,那些一步一步遵循GPS指示的司机发现,他们更难找出自己去过哪里,甚至无法注意到自己从不同的角度经过了一些地方两次)”可知,依赖导航的司机会错过很多,对自己的记路没什么好处。F“Memorizing the route before setting out, instead, has its benefits(而在出发前记住路线是有好处的)”表示用自己的脑子记住大致路线是有好处的,下一句也是这个意思。故选F项。3上一段末说到出发前要用脑子记住路线,该小题作为本段首句概括整段,下文“It’s important to notice what’s around you …(注意你周围的一切是很重要的)”“king photographs or writing notes at key locations can act as hints to stick them in your memory(另一个提示?在关键位置拍照或记笔记可以作为把它们留在你记忆中的线索)”可知,该段说的是上路后行驶过程中的一些技巧。AStaying alert is key, too.(保持警惕也是关键)指的是在行驶过程中要保持警惕,注意自己走过的地方。故选A项。 DIt’s all too easy to panic if you suspect you may be lost.(如果你怀疑自己迷路了,你很容易恐慌)契合上文,其中panic与下文“this sudden burst of anxiety”呼应。 6根据上文“Many people are well aware of the benefits of teaching our children to love reading.(许多人都很清楚教我们的孩子喜欢阅读的好处。),家长都知道教会孩子阅读的好处,G项表示然而,找时间和孩子们一起阅读就不那么容易了。转折过渡自然。知道是一会事儿,能坚持做到就不容易了;下文“Here is how you fit yourself in regular reading with your children.(以下是你如何与你的孩子一起进行常规阅读的方法。)介绍一些帮助家长与孩子养成常规阅读的方法,也是呼应空上G项,表明不是容易事儿,是需要技巧的。故选G项。7根据第二段首句“Select a suitable time of day.(选择一个合适的时间。),该小题作为段末句,在表示suitable time是因人而异的。DDo remember a suitable time for reading varies among children.(务必记住孩子们适合阅读的时间是不同的。)总结上文呼应首句。故选D项。8根据本段首句即主题句“Break down the reading if necessary.(如有必要,将阅读材料分解。)可知,本段谈论阅读量的问题,不宜过多,CRather than read five storybooks, cut it down to two.(与其读五本故事书,不如把它删减为两本。)呼应首句。故选C项。9E项内容When you have more than one child, make reading done together.(当你有不止一个孩子时,一起读书。)有多个孩子那么就一起大声朗读,与前面首句意义一致,且后面也是在说家中有多个孩子的情况下的一些策略。故选E项。10该小题为段首句,也是本段主题句,总领全段。根据下文“When you have more than one child, make reading done together.(当你的孩子阅读任何一个东西的时候,不管是包装上的标签还是书,一定要抓住每一个机会表扬他们。)可知,B项内容概括下文,表扬孩子,才能坚持下去,这是很有效的方法。故选B项。 11G 12A 13C 14E 15F【分析】这是一篇议论文。文章主要探讨了人工智能能否把人们从糟糕的会议中拯救出来。11上文“But badly managed, meetings can be unproductive, boring and feel like a complete waste of time.(但如果管理不善,会议就会毫无成效、枯燥乏味,让人感觉完全是在浪费时间。)”说明如果管理不善,会议就是毫无成效的浪费时间,选项G“然而,有理论认为,像人工智能这样的技术可以改善一些事情。承接上文,提出用人工智能技术解决问题的想法,引出后文“It’s very likely for an AI (Artificial Intelligence) to be able to recognize when one person is hijacking a meeting, or if a discussion keeps returning to a single issue.(人工智能很可能能够识别一个人是否操纵了会议,或者讨论是否总是回到某个问题上。)”等内容,探讨人工智能能否把人们从糟糕的会议中拯救出来。上下文语义通顺,逻辑合理。故选G项。12上文“‘If AI can do most of the hard routine work during meetings, that leaves more space for humans to think about strategy and vision,’ believes Niki at the Big Innovation Center in AI.(人工智能大创新中心的Niki认为:如果人工智能可以在会议期间完成大部分繁重的日常工作,这就给人类留下了更多思考战略和愿景的空间。’)”说明Niki的观点:人工智能能完成会议期间的大部分工作,能给人类留下更多空间,选项A“这似乎是真的。Niki的观点做出评价,引出下文“The city of Osaka in Japan started using an AI as a minute taker to transcribe and summarize the 450 annual cabinet (内阁) meetings. It has divided the time needed to produce summaries and cut staff overtime.(日本大阪市开始使用人工智能记录和总结450次年度内阁会议。它划分了撰写摘要所需的时间,并减少了员工加班时间。)”举例说明Niki的观点的真实性。行文通顺,逻辑合理。故选A项。13下文“If a meeting with irrelevant subject matter is called, or if it's an inconvenient time, an AI could be used to decide who should attend the meeting and when it should be, says Elise Keith from a US-based meeting management platform.(来自美国会议管理平台的Elise Keith表示,如果要召开与主题无关的会议,或者时间不方便,人工智能可以用来决定谁以及什么时候参加会议。)”说明人工智能可以用来决定谁以及什么时候出席会议,选项C“AI也可以帮助解决出勤的问题。位于段首,概括本段主题,介绍人工智能解决会议出勤问题。选项中the matter of attendance和下文中who should attend the meeting and when it should be语义相关。故选C项。14下文“Using the software, participants can make open-ended responses, submit comments or vote in multiple-choice quizzes.(使用该软件,参与者可以进行开放式回答、提交评论或在多项选择题中投票。)”介绍该软件有开放开答、提交评论等功能,选项E“它允许与会者对讨论给出反馈。概括说明该软件的对讨论给出反馈的功能,选项中give feedback about a discussion和下文中make open-ended responses, submit comments or vote in multiple-choice quizzes语义相关,描述一致。故选E项。15上文“While tools that can create agendas, send meeting invitations, distribute the minutes, and keep track of action items should improve effectiveness, they are still in development.(虽然可以创建议程、发送会议邀请、分发会议记录和跟踪行动项目的工具可以提高效率,但它们仍处于开发阶段。)”说明人工智能有诸多功能,但是仍处于开发阶段,对人工智能的作用做出总结,选项F“让我们希望,如果他们真的来了,他们会满足我们的期望。承接上文,说明作者对人工智能的未来充满希望。行文通顺,逻辑合理。故选F项。 16C 17E 18B 19G 20D【分析】本文是一篇说明文。文章主要介绍了高质量的睡眠是任何健康生活方式的基础,而且与我们的体重有着重要的关系。16根据上文“But, as we know, there are a variety of factors that can affect your weight beyond what you eat and your activity levels.(但是,正如我们所知,除了饮食和活动水平之外,还有很多因素可以影响你的体重)”可知,下文会说的是很多可以影响你的体重的因素。由此可知,CSleep is another important, but less talked about, factor.(睡眠是另一个重要的,但很少被谈论的因素)符合语境。故选C17根据下文“If you're looking to lose weight this year, it's better to consider not only diet and exercise but also rest.(如果你想在今年减肥,最好不仅考虑饮食和锻炼,还要考虑休息)”可知,此处说的是睡眠对于减肥来说也很重要。由此可知,EBut there's also a significant connection between sleep and weight.(但睡眠和体重之间也有着重要的联系)符合语境。故选E18根据下文“If you're not getting at least seven hours of sleep per night, your metabolism (新陈代谢) can actually slow down, which means you can passively pack on extra pounds because you don't burn as many calories throughout the day and night.(如果你每晚睡眠时间不少于7小时,你的新陈代谢实际上会减慢,这意味着你可以被动地增加体重,因为你白天和晚上都不会消耗那么多热量)”可知,此处说的是睡眠不足带来的问题。由此可知,BWhat happens when you don't sleep enough?(当你睡眠不足时会发生什么?)符合语境,下文是对该问题的回答。故选B19根据上文“It produces the hormone (荷尔蒙) that improves your appetite and decreases the hormone that makes you feel full.(它会产生一种荷尔蒙,改善你的食欲,减少让你觉得饱的荷尔蒙)”可知,此处说的是睡眠不足会让你觉得饿。由此可知,GA lack of sleep can also leave you feeling hungrier and longing for certain high-calorie foods.(睡眠不足也会让你感觉更饿,渴望某些高热量的食物)符合语境。故选G20根据下文“Then all those calories add up.(然后所有的卡路里加起来)”可知,此处说的是吃东西就会有卡路里。由此可知,DThe more hours you're awake, the more time you have to snack.(你醒着的时间越多,吃零食的时间就越多)符合语境。故选D 21G 22C 23B 24A 25D【分析】这是一篇说明文。文章介绍了恐惧症的定义、来源和克服的方法。21根据后文“Sometimes it's good to be aware of the possible dangers from things. Our brain warns us of the risks that might lie ahead, but then we often get prepared and overcome them.”(有时候意识到事物的潜在危险是件好事。我们的大脑会警告我们前方可能存在的风险,但我们通常会有所准备并克服它们。)可知,此处是指对潜在危险产生意识,而此时危险尚未发生,所以选项G(当某人对某种情况或物体产生一种不现实的危险感时,就会出现这种情况。)切合文意。故选G22前文“Our fears are rooted in our brains-we don't need to learn to be afraid of animals like snakes or spiders.”(我们的恐惧根植于我们的大脑——我们不需要学会害怕像蛇或蜘蛛这样的动物。)中提到fears,后文“With a phobia, your breathing gets quicker, your pulse speeds up, you sweat and your brain is unable to control these reactions.”(患有恐惧症,你的呼吸会变快,脉搏加快,出汗,你的大脑无法控制这些反应。)中提到phobia,所以选项C(但是恐惧症比恐惧更强烈。)比较这二者,所以切合文意。故选C23根据后文“Phobias usually are a copy behaviour from a higher authority, like a parent or teacher, or a kind of mental suffering from a past event that comes back to trouble you continuously. ”(恐惧症通常是一种来自上级(如父母或老师)的复制行为,或者是一种过去事件的精神折磨,它会不断回来困扰你。)可知,此处是讲恐惧症的来源,所以选项B(但是恐惧症是从哪里来的呢?)切合文意。故选B24根据后文“Therapy (心理治疗) is one choice, where you gradually get used to whatever it is you fear.”(心理治疗是一种选择,你可以逐渐习惯你所恐惧的东西。)可知,此处是指如何克服恐惧症。所以选项A(那么怎样才能克服它们呢?)切合文意。故选A25根据前文“But if you do have a phobia, continually trying to avoid what you're afraid of by yourself is likely to make the situation worse”(但如果你确实有恐惧症,不断地试图避开你自己害怕的东西只会让情况变得更糟)可知,此处是讲不断地试图避开你自己害怕的东西是错的,选项D(正确的做法是寻求帮助来克服它。)又讲出正确的做法,所以切合文意。故选D 26E 27B 28C 29G 30A【分析】本文是一篇说明文。文章介绍了有效的沟通者应该具备的四种素养。26根据前句“Becoming a good communicator has many benefits and advantages. (成为一个好的沟通者有很多好处和优势。)”及后四段详细介绍了具体的四种素养,可知,此处为承上启下。即好的沟通者应该具备什么样的品质。所以选择项E“But what kind of qualities does a good communicator have?(但是一个好的沟通者应该具备什么样的品质呢?)”符合上下文语境。故选E项。27根据前句“Listening is an important component of communicating effectively. It shows other people that you are sincere and interested in what they are saying.(倾听是有效沟通的重要组成部分。这向别人表明你是真诚的,对他们说的话感兴趣。)”可知,倾听表明说话人关注着对方,因此可以推断出,倾听给对方恰当的反应,并与空后的倾听的作用形成有效的意思层进。所以选择项B“Also, it allows you to correctly respond to people. ( 此外,它允许你正确地回应人们。)”符合上下文语境。故选B28根据前句“In terms of writing, good communicators use the appropriate words to convey different senses of meaning. (在写作方面,好的沟通者会使用适当的词语来表达不同的意思。)”可知,有效的沟通者会字斟句酌,用恰当的字眼表达不同层面的意思,说明沟通者要有丰富的词汇量。所以选择项C“Good communicators must have a strong vocabulary. (优秀的沟通者必须拥有强大的词汇量。)”符合上下文语境。故选C项。29根据前句“Good communicators organize their thoughts to ensure that what they communicate comes out in an organized fashion. (优秀的沟通者组织他们的想法,以确保他们以一种有组织的方式表达出来。)”可知,有效的沟通者能够很有条理的组织并表达出自己的意思,这就意味着他们具备用各种事例、插图等清楚地解释他们的思想的能力。所以选择项G“This allows them the ability to make a clear explanation with examples and illustrations. (这使他们能够用例子和插图来清楚地解释。)”符合上下文语境。故选G项。30根据后文“When a speaker shows that she is genuine about what she says, listeners are likely to believe the speaker because of the sincerity with which she speaks. Sincere communicators usually communicate convincingly because they are willing to put their beliefs on the line for the sake of communicating the truth.(当一位演讲者表现出她对她所说的是真诚的,听众很可能会相信这位演讲者,因为她说的是真诚的。真诚的沟通者通常能令人信服地沟通,因为他们愿意为了沟通真相而牺牲自己的信仰。)”可知,本段介绍了的有效的沟通者在与人沟通时始终报以真诚的情感。所以选择项A“Good communicators are sincere. (好的沟通者是真诚的。)”符合上下文语境。故选A项。
