    The idea f making digital mdels f ancient buildings t save them data dates back t the 1990s and the necessary technlgy has cntinued t advance since then. By scanning the ancient build-ings with lasers, building 3-D mdels with multiple images, as well as measuring everything pre-cisely, engineers can make a cpy as accurate as the real ne.
    As cmputers and smartphnes are hugely ppular, the digital mdel has great useful value. First, it allws turists t feel the cultural relics withut tuching them. The virtual tur f Mga Grttes in Gansu Prvince is a gd example f this as turists can view the paintings withut standing near them. Furthermre, it can make the digitized cultural relics mre famus by spreading awareness f them via the Internet. In 2000, a virtual tur f the Great Wall became very ppular at the Wrld Exp in Hannver, which increased the number f freign turists vis-iting the site in the fllwing years.
