research team suggested that the scial factrs that came with singing in a singing grup may als have had an effect.
One f the researchers, Anne Crbett, wh is a prfessr f dementia (痴呆) research at the
University f Exeter, said that encuraging lder adults t return t music later in life culd be a useful public health strategy. She said, “There is much evidence fr the benefit f music grup
activities fr individuals with dementia.” And she suggested that such activities culd be used t reduce the risk f develping dementia.
Of thse wh tk part in the survey, 89% said they had played a musical instrument at sme time in their lives, and abut half still played ne. Arund seven ut ften said they had taken part in

A star athlete at the cllege where I wrk recently stpped by my ffice. After cmmitting a few unfrced errrs during a weekend match, she was trn apart by self-criticism. “I can’t stp beating myself up,” she tld me. “I’m at peak fitness, and I practice hard. Hw is this happening?”
Many students I teach, like this athlete, believe that all-nighters in the library and hurs n the

parents and teachers spend time helping students find purpse, r gals they genuinely lve t
pursue and that make an impact n the wrld, which may help them gain greater life satisfactin and becme mre psychlgically mature.
The pint is nt t give ur kids a pass n wrking hard. But we wuld be wise t remind ur kids that life has a way f sucker-punching us when we least expect it. It’s ften the peple wh learn t say “stuff happens” wh get up the fastest.

B .The result f the “mindset” research desn’t apply t all cases.
C .Parents shuld lay mre emphasis n their kids’ academic perfrmance.
D .Whether praising kids’ effrt ver ability des gd t kids depends.
      34. Accrding t the authr, hw can parents help the kids vercme barriers in life?
A .By chsing where t g t cllege fr them.
B .By pushing them t fight against the cruel reality.

D .By encuraging them t stick t a wrthy cause they truly lve.
