I came t India a year ag t find a village in which I culd live and write but it was many mnths befre I settled dwn happily in this Himalayan cmmunity.
I wasted a lt f time lking fr the “typical” village. Yet n such thing exists. Cnditins are quite different frm village t village. But the villages I stayed in had much in cmmn---pr, dirty and backward. Often the villagers themselves were puzzled and dubtful. Why had I cme? I had put aside my wrk as a plitical jurnalist because my ideas had changed. I had cme t believe that what was happening in the Third Wrld was mre imprtant than anything else. But t understand hw three—quarters f the wrld ppulatin live, and what effect their future might have n urs, I felt that I first had t try and share their way f life.
In the end I chse a muntain village because it was little cler than thse in the plains. I tk the bus frm twn alng a rcky rad. Then came a rugh walk dwn a steep path t the river. After this I began the climb int the hills. Whenever I stpped t catch my breath, there was a beautiful scene. After several hurs’ walk the village came int sight.
46.After the writer had arrived in India,________.
he spent a year writing abut the place he lived in
he spent quite sme time lking fr a suitable place t live in

      第二节:阅读下列材料,从所给的6个选项(A、B、C、D、E和F)中,选出符合各小题要求的最佳选项,其中有一题是多余选项。
      ____51.Eat mre fruits and vegetables.
      ____52.Knw the facts abut fat.
      ____53.Balance yur lunch.
      ____54.Mix it up.
      ____55.Use yur manners.
When peple talk abut balanced meals, they mean meals that include a mix f fd grups: sme grains, sme fruits, sme vegetables, sme meat r prtein fds, and sme dairy fds such as milk and cheese. Try t d this with yur lunch. If yu dn’t have a lt f fds n yur plate, it’s prbably nt balanced. A duble rder f French fries, fr example, wuld nt make fr a balanced lunch.
Eating in a cafeteria(自助餐厅)smetimes lks like feeding time at the z. Dn’t be animals! Fllw thse simple rules yur parents are always reminding yu abut: Chew with yur muth clsed. Dn’t talk and eat at the same time. Use yur plate. Put yur napkin n yur lap. Be plite. And dn’t make fun f what smene else is eating .
Chsing fruits and vegetables is like hitting the jackpt(获得胜利)when it cmes t nutritin .They make yur plate mre clurful and they’re packed with vitamins and fiber. It’s a gd idea t eat five servings f fruits and vegetables every day, s try t fit in ne r tw at lunch. A serving isn’t a lt.
Kids need sme fat in their diets t stay healthy ----it als helps keep yu feeling full---but yu dn’t want t eat t much f it. Fat is fund in butter, ils, cheese, nuts, and meats. Sme higher-fat lunch fds include French fries, ht dgs, cheeseburgers and cheese. Dn’t wrry if yu like these fds! N fd is bad, but yu may want t eat them less ften and in smaller prtins. Fds that are lwer in fat are usually baked. Sme f the best lw-fat fds are fruits, vegetables, and lw-fat milk.
“Grains” include breads, cereals, rice, and pasta. But as we learn mre abut gd nutritin, it’s clear that whle grains are better than refined grains. What’s the difference? Brwn rice is a whle grain, but white rice is nt. Likewise wheat bread cntains whle grains, whereas 100% white bread des nt.
D yu eat the same lunch every day ? If that lunch is a ht dg, it’s time t change yur way. Yu shuld learn t mix it up when chsing what t eat. Eating lts f different kinds f fd gives yur bdy a lt f nutrients.
