22.(8分) Shark attacks nt nly disturb beach activities, but can affect assciated turist industries. Shark nets are a cmmn slutin t preventing shark attacks n beaches, but they cause dangers t sea ecsystems.
Seeking a cst-effective way t mnitr beach safety ver large areas, we have develped a system called Shark Sptter. It cmbines artificial intelligence (AI), cmputing pwer, and drne (无人机) technlgy t identify and warn lifesavers t sharks near swimmers. The prject is a cperatin between the University f Technlgy Sydney and The Ripper Grup, which is pineering the use f drnes—called “Westpac Little Ripper Lifesavers”—in the search and rescue mvement in Australia.
SharkSptter can detect sharks and ther ptential threats using real-time aerial imagery. The system analyses vide frm a camera attached t a drne t mnitr beaches fr sharks, send warnings, and cnduct rescues. Develped with techniques knwn as “deep learning”, the Shark Sptter system receives imagery frm the drne camera and attempts t identify all bjects in the scene. Once certain bjects are detected, they are put int ne f 16 categries: shark, whale, dlphin, rays, different types f bats, surfers, and swimmers.
If a shark is detected, Shark Sptter prvides bth a visual sign n the cmputer screen and an audible warning t the peratr. The peratr cnfirms the warning and sends text messages frm the Shark Sptter system t the Surf Life Savers fr further actin. In an emergency, the drne is equipped with a lifesaving fltatin pd (漂浮仓) tgether with an electrnic shark repellent (驱逐装置) that can be drpped int the water in cases where swimmers are in severe truble, trapped in a rip, r if there are sharks clse by.
In January 2018, the Westpac Little Ripper Lifesavers was used t rescue tw yung swimmers caught in a rip at Lennx Head, NSW. The drne flew dwn the beach sme 800 meters frm the lifeguard statin, and a lifesaving fltatin pd was drpped frm the drne. The cmplete rescue peratin tk 70 secnds.
We believe Shark Sptter is a win-win fr bth marine life and beachgers. This unique technlgy cmbines dynamic vide image prcessing AI and advanced drne technlgy t creatively deal with the glbal challenge f ensuring safe beaches, prtecting envirnments, and prmting turism.
