Built in the muntains ver 1,300 years ag, the terraces cver arund 180,000 hectares and extend at a height f abut 1,500 metres. Water frm muntain springs flws past the villages, thrugh the terraces, and finally int rivers. Frests, villages, terraces and waterways all wrk tgether in a natural cycle.
Because f this system, peple can harvest rice and fish. It has als helped prtect the frest and prvide clean water. It shws us why we shuld live in harmny with nature. By respecting nature, we can benefit frm nature’s gifts.
