      Step 1 Pre-reading(1a)
      Cnduct a survey amng students in advance t find ut their definitins f gd friends,recrd a vide,and then play it fr the students in class.
      T:Guys,what is a gd friend like? Let's watch the vide and find the answer.

      Ask students t share their similarities and differences between them and their friends.
      T:Are yu similar t r different frm yur classmates? In what ways are yu similar r in what ways are yu different?

      Step 2 Reading(1b~1d)

      1.Ask students t read the psts and find ut Matt's and Diana's pinins.
      2.Check the answer in class and ask students where t find the answer frm the psts.

      1.Ask students t read the psts again and match the peple with the descriptins.

      1.Divide the class int tw big grups with each grup cnsisting f three small grups and cnduct a grup debate. One grup supprts the view that “Similarities are mre imprtant fr friendship”,and the ther grup supprts the view that “Differences are mre imprtant fr friendship”.

      2.Ask students t discuss the questin in grup:what really matters in a friendship? Prvide each grup with a large piece f pster bard,clured pens,stickers and ther materials. Require each grup t create a pster centred arund “What really matters in a friendship”.The cntent f the pster bard can include wrds,pictures,charts,etc.,and it is necessary t clearly display the key elements f a friendship and the reasns cnsidered imprtant by the grup.
      3.Ask each grup t paste their pster bard n the classrm wall and intrduce the cntent f the pster bard t ther grups. Other grups can write cmments r supplementary pinins beside each pster bard,and finally the whle class summarizes the mst recgnized key elements f a friendship.
