A Swinburne-based research team has cmpleted a natinwide study f parents abut hw Australian audiences discver, cnsume, and value lcal children’s cntent.
The researchers fund that seven ut f 10 parents believed that gd Australian children’s televisin is “fun and engaging”. Survey respnses shwed that parents valued “relatable” and “authentic” prgramming, including Australian accents and settings; recgnizable depictins f family dynamics; and cntent that desn’t take itself t seriusly. These qualities can all be fund in kids’ TV phenmenn Bluey, the Emmy-winning animated cmedy abut a Queensland-based family f Blue Heeler dgs. Parents identified Bluey as the shw mst watched by their children, as well as the kids’ TV shw they are mst enthusiastic abut watching themselves.
As ne survey respndent, a Western Australia mum-f-tw, bserved, “Rund the Twist and Bluey are the best because they shw kids being passinate and funny and adults handling their lives with patience, respect and humur, as well as being drks and messing up.”
