In the remte muntains f Guizhu, China,72-year-ld Li Wei has spent five decades preserving a
disappearing art frm: the ancient flk sngs f the Mia ethnic grup. As a child, Li wuld fllw her
grandmther t village gatherings, mesmerized by cmplex meldies passed dwn thrugh ral traditin. “Thse
sngs were ur histry bks,” she recalls. “But by the 1990s, nly a handful f elders culd sing them.”
Determined t rescue this cultural heritage, Li began dcumenting every sng she culd find. With limited
resurces, she walked fr hurs t reach islated villages, recrding lyrics in wrn ntebks and capturing tunes
n a cassette player. Her persistence faced skepticism. “Peple asked why I wasted time n ‘ld things’ when the
yung were leaving fr cities,” she tld The New Yrk Times.
A turning pint came in 2010 when Li’s cllectin was discvered by ethnmusiclgists frm Beijing
Cnservatry. This led t digital archiving prjects and yuth wrkshps. Tday, her effrts have revived ver 300
nearly extinct sngs. Li’s mst significant cntributin is the “Eches f the Cluds” prgram, which trains lcal
children during summer vacatins. “I teach them that these sngs carry ur ancestrs’ wisdm abut nature and
      life,” she explains.
Despite internatinal recgnitin, Li refuses t leave her village. “My place is here, where the sngs were
brn,” she states. Her resilience has inspired a new generatin; three f her students nw study ethnmusiclgy at

Mars is a challenging place fr humans t live due t its extreme cld and lack f basic necessities like xygen.
Given ur gal t send humans there, and cnsidering the high cst f transprting supplies frm Earth, it is a
      prblem that needs slving.
NASA has already demnstrated the pssibility f prducing xygen n Mars with the MOXIE experiment
brught ver by the Perseverance rver. Recently, a Chinese research team develped an AI chemist,
demnstrating the ptential t prduce xygen n Mars using nly materials fund n the Red Planet.
Since the AI perated n Earth, it did nt directly use Martian sil but instead analyzed Martian meterites (陨
石). It examined the cmpsitin f five Martian meterite types and identified substances that culd generate
xygen evlutin reactin (OER) catalysts (催化剂). These catalysts are envisined t split water int xygen
using slar energy. The AI then prcessed these meterite materials fr testing.
The AI chemist fund 3,764,376 ptential frmulas (配方) fr the catalyst and wrked ut the best ne in just
tw mnths. Fr a single human, this wuld have taken thusands f years f labr t accmplish. The resulting
catalyst was excellent. Researchers reprt that it culd perate steadily fr ver 550,000 secnds—almst 6 days
and 9 hurs—with a stable electric current density. The team als tested it at belw-freezing temperatures,
cnsistent with temperatures fund n Mars, with n apparent decline.
“In the future, humans can establish an xygen factry n Mars with the assistance f AI chemistry,”
Prfessr Jiang Jun, ne f the three team leaders, said in a statement. “This breakthrugh technlgy brings us ne
step clser t achieving ur dream f living n Mars.”
The team is nw lking t apply the AI chemist t ther challenges in chemical discvery. It’s clear that AI
hlds the ptential t revlutinize the way we address cmplex prblems and pave the way tward a mre
      sustainable future.

Nise pllutin pses a significant threat t varius animal species, seriusly impacting their natural behavirs
and eclgical rles. Amng its harmful effects, the mst serius is that it cnfuses acustic signals critical t
animal cmmunicatin and survival. Animals rely n these signals fr crucial activities such as finding mates,
warning thers f danger, and crdinating grup behavirs. Hwever, nise pllutin ften verlaps with these
      frequencies, bscuring (使模糊) vital messages.
Furthermre, nise pllutin alters animal behavirs essential fr their reprductive success. Fr instance,
curtship rituals (求偶仪式) in birds can be affected, leading t decreased mating success and, cnsequently, fewer
ffspring. In sme cases, the stress caused by cnstant nise expsure can result in reduced egg prductin amng
birds and marine species. This impact extends beynd reprductin, influencing the verall health and ppulatin
      dynamics f affected species.
The impact is wide-ranging, affecting mammals and marine life. Even species knwn fr their adaptability,
such as certain marine mammals and birds, are nt immune t the effects f nise pllutin. In water, nise frm
shipping, underwater cnstructin, and recreatinal activities can interfere with marine mammals’ navigatin and
      cmmunicatin, essential fr their survival.
The Wrld Health Organizatin (WHO) recgnizes nise pllutin as ne f the mst harmful frms f
envirnmental pllutin wrldwide. Its widespread presence in the whle ecsystems highlights its ptential t
unsettle the entire fd web and eclgical balance. As human activities cntinue t ccupy natural habitats, the
lng-term effects f nise pllutin intensify, psing an increasingly urgent threat t bidiversity.
Effrts t reduce nise pllutin are crucial fr preserving ecsystems and prtecting vulnerable animal
ppulatins. Implementing sund management practices, regulating nise levels in sensitive habitats, and raising
awareness abut the eclgical impacts f nise pllutin are essential steps tward fstering healthier
envirnments fr all species. By addressing nise pllutin cmprehensively, we can prtect the cmplex web f
      life.
      32. What’s the main effect f nise pllutin n animal cmmunicatin?
      A. It destrys animals’ natural habitats.
      B. It influences animals’ ability t find fd.
      C. It affects animals’ adapting t the new envirnments.
      D. It disturbs imprtant sunds animals need fr survival.
      33. Hw des nise pllutin affect bird reprductin?
      A. It reduces birds’ need fr curtship rituals. B. It shrtens the life cycle f birds’ ffspring.
      C. It lwers mating success by trubling curtship rituals.
      D. It changes the chice f egg- laying places amng bird species.
      34. What des the authr want t express by mentining WHO?
      A. Nise pllutin mstly happens in urban areas.
      B. Nise pllutin has negative effects mainly n humans.
      C. Nise pllutin brings abut fd safety issues.
      D. Nise pllutin is a glbal issue impacting wildlife.
      35. What is the text mainly abut?
      A. Threats brught by nise pllutin t wildlife.
      B. Animal messages cvered by nise pllutin.
      C. Measures t reduce nise pllutin in the wild.
      D. Impacts f nise pllutin n eclgical balance.

One day, during a lively schl class, Mrs. Thmpsn asked everyne abut their dream jbs. The classrm
suddenly gt filled with eager vices as classmates enthusiastically shared their dreams. “I want t be a cllege
prfessr,” said Sarah cnfidently. “I dream f becming a basketball player,” exclaimed Mike with light in his eye.
The air was filled with dreams f dctrs, nurses, bank accuntants, and varius prfessins.

during my upbringing created a nticeable distance in ur relatinship. I had such a lt t cmplain abut his jb
and thus being a dctr wuld be the last ptin I wuld take.
After hearing my answer, Mrs. Thmpsn didn’t make any cmment. Instead, she advised me t think mre
      abut that.
A turning pint came when ur schl decided t stage a New Year’s play. It was the grandest event f the
year, and we had been preparing fr it fr a lng time. Preparing fr ur rles, I needed t buy cstume.
Unfrtunately, my mm had t travel t anther city fr wrk, s it fell upn my dad t accmpany me. Reluctantly
(不情愿地), I agreed, realizing there was n ther ptin.
In the mall, it became evident that my dad was clueless abut the items n the shpping list. Despite Mm
prviding a detailed list, we wandered thrugh different flrs, in and ut between different shps befre finally
getting everything we needed. And I was getting mre and mre uncmfrtable.
Suddenly, a chas drew ur attentin. A crwd had gathered, and smene was shuting fr help. It turned ut
that an elderly custmer had a fall, and nlkers were at a lss n hw t assist.
