The 26 pupils were all Year 8 at the Stanway Schl in Essex. They agreed t lck their phnes in a glass bx fr three weeks. Researchers frm the University f Yrk clsely mnitred (跟踪调查) them t see if their behaviur changed ver this time. The experiment was filmed fr a dcumentary TV shw and the adult presenters jined the pupils by als giving up their phnes.
Althugh similar experiments have been carried ut befre, Prfessr Lisa frm the University f Yrk said this ne invlved peple spending a much lnger time withut their smartphnes.
At the end f the experiment, the researchers fund that the pupils had experienced several benefits (好处). On average, they went t bed 50 minutes earlier when they culdn’t use their phnes and fell asleep 20 minutes faster.
