During my early years,I fcused n eye-catching landscape phtgraphy.I spent time in the Himalayas,Patagnia, and Tasmania and returned with pictures f breathtaking beauty which I thught were “awesme”.But a ne-mnth camping trip t the Menindee lakes alng Darling-Baaka in Australia shifted my perspective.Phtgraphy is mre than taking phts.

I spke t the lcal authrity, explaining that I hped t create a “burning” tree as a beacn(灯塔) t draw peple’s attentin t defrestatin. They shwed great interest because fire is an integral part f Australian farming and Abriginal culture.
I cnnected a few f the gas canisters(罐) generally used fr barbecues t flexible gas lines called “slinkies”,which culd be wired up the back f the tree, away frm the tree, and ut f sight f the public. These prduced an utline f flames(火焰) when I lit them,as if the tree were n fire.It was lit fr 15 secnds while I gt the sht,and fire-fighting equipment was prepared.Even thugh the tree was dead,it was still a vital habitat. But the gas flames did n damage, and the insects that lived inside were unharmed.

Kristy Grdn’s artistic vice didn’t emerge vernight — it was a year-lng prcess f unlearning perfectinism and rediscvering her creativity.Like many artists, she began by burying her intuitin(直觉) under academic expectatins.Thrugh strict training in classical techniques, she mastered the rules f “gd” painting — nly t realize thse very rules had becme a bx.
The turning pint came after cmpleting her MFA at the New Yrk Academy f Art.Free frm the pressure f peer review,Grdn gave herself permissin t experiment withut judgment.Grdn made a brave decisin t step away frm public exhibitins fr an entire year, which gave her the freedm t explre withut wrrying abut critical receptin r cmmercial success.Withut the appraching deadline f an upcming exhibitin, she fund herself painting mre freely, trying techniques she’d previusly cnsidered “t risky” fr public display.
Grdn rediscvered the pure jy f creating fr herself alne. The year away frm the sptlight allwed her t develp a bdy f wrk that was truly hers, rather than shaped by market trends r academic feedback. As she later recalled,“That year f painting in private was like giving myself permissin t be a beginner again.Withut an audience,I culd make all the ‘mistakes’ that eventually led t my artistic breakthrughs.”
The strategy paid ff — when she eventually returned t exhibiting, her wrk shwed a new level f cnfidence and riginality that had been frmed in that year.
Grdn’s jurney reveals an insightful truth:An artist’s vice isn’t smething t be fund, but smething t be uncvered. It requires bth curage t silence external expectatins and patience t hear yur wn inner creative whisper. As she reflects,“Yur mst authentic(真实的) wrk emerges when yu stp trying t make art,and start allwing art t make yu.”
9.Which best describes Grdn’s previus paintings?

10.Hw des Grdn start t find her vice?

      B.She gave up risky techniques.
      C.She tk diverse art training.
D.She kept a free creative space.

      Passage 1
根据第二段中的“‘I enjy explring animal cmmunities and have tried t tell their tales. If these stries can mve the audience and tuch their hearts, they will cme t lve animals. This lve will crrespndingly inspire them t prtect nature,’ Zhu says.”
根据第三段“Zhu started reflecting n the meaning f life when she was bund t bed fr six mnths fllwing a car crash in 2013.She realized she had been struggling t be a straight-A student t please her parents.‘I was t busy t try t figure ut what I want,’ she says.” 故选A项。
(The pride in being an utstanding student)看似合理,因为“优秀学生”通常与“自豪”相关联,容易让考生忽略原文的否定含义。
根据画线词句子“Additinally,Zhu held a persnal phtgraphy exhibitin,with all prceeds ging t natural cnservatin effrts.”
根据最后一段中的“Hwever, when it cmes t fllw-up actins,I believe it requires the invlvement f rganizatins that can institute practical measures.” 故选A项。

      Passage 2
根据第一段中的“But a ne-mnth camping trip t the Menindee lakes alng Darling-Baaka in Australia shifted my perspective.Phtgraphy is mre than taking phts.”以及第二段中的“Yet,the image f bushfires stayed with me,and I felt driven t d smething. That was when the pht Blaze came int being.”
根据第二段中的“As I became increasingly familiar with the place,I learned that human activities led t widespread defrestatin and drught in the area, resulting in many dead trees.Driving acrss the regin,I recalled that Sydney was blanketed by smke fr mnths n end as bushfires swept thrugh the east cast.” 故选A项。
根据倒数第二段中的“I cnnected a few f the gas canisters (罐) I gt the sht,and fire-fighting equipment was prepared.”
根据第二段中的“As I became increasingly familiar with the in many dead trees.”和“Yet,the image f bushfires stayed with me,and I felt driven t d smething. That was when the pht Blaze came int being.”以及第三段中的“I spke t the lcal authrity, explaining that I hped t create a ‘burning’ tree as a beacn (灯塔) t draw peple’s attentin t defrestatin.”
文中提到作者与当地政府沟通,并提到“fire is an integral part f Australian farming and Abriginal culture”,这可能会让部分读者误以为照片是为了展示当地文化。

      Passage 3
根据第一段中的“Like many artists, she began by burying her intuitin (直觉) under academic expectatins.Thrugh strict training in classical techniques, she mastered the rules f ‘gd’ painting — nly t realize thse very rules had becme a bx.”
根据第二段中的“Grdn made a brave techniques she’d previusly cnsidered ‘t risky’ fr public display.”
根据第三段中的“That year f painting in private was like giving myself permissin t be a beginner again.Withut an audience,I culd make all the ‘mistakes’ that eventually led t my artistic breakthrughs.”
根据文章最后一段 “Grdn’s jurney reveals an insightful truth:An artist’s vice isn’t smething t be fund, but smething t be uncvered. It requires bth curage t silence external expectatins and patience t hear yur wn inner creative whisper. As she reflects,‘Yur mst authentic (真实的) wrk emerges when yu stp trying t make art,and start allwing art t make yu.’”
