In the glittering wrld f Olympic figure skating, where every mve is judged under the harshest f lights, failures can be brutally expsed. It was during ne such mment that Mari, a nce-prmising star, stumbled and fell, his dream crashing dwn with the thud (砰的一声) f the skate blades n the ice.
The initial shck was fllwed by a deep sense f despair. Dubts crept in, whispering that he might never rise again. Each day seemed darker than the last, as Mari struggled t find his fting in a wrld that suddenly felt s alien and unfrgiving f himself.
But within this darkness, Mari began t frgive himself and accept the reality. He remembered the cuntless hurs f training, the sacrifices made, and the lve fr the sprt that had burned s brightly befre. Slwly, he picked himself up, dusted ff the ice shards f defeat, and began t skate again.
This time, it was different. Each fall became a lessn, each mistake an pprtunity fr grwth. He learned t embrace his failures, using them as stepping stnes t greater heights. With renewed determinatin, Mari pushed himself harder, skating with a newfund grace and pwer.
Finally, the day arrived when ur her stepped nt the Olympic ice nce mre. This time, there was n fear, nly fcus. As the music swelled and he began his rutine, every mve flwed with effrtless elegance. When the final nte rang ut, he knew he had dne it. This yung man had risen frm the ashes f failure and embraced success again, strnger and mre brilliant than befre.
As the crwd erupted in applause and the athlete std center ice, a single tear traced dwn his cheek. It was a tear f jy, relief, and pride — a testament t the jurney he had endured. At that mment, he understd that failure was nt the end, but rather a beginning — a chance t rise strnger, wiser, and mre determined. “Men are frm Mars, wmen frm Venus” has becme a cnvenient shrthand fr every husehld debate, frm map-reading t lading the dishwasher. Yet beneath the jkes lies a serius questin: are the tw sexes brn with fundamentally different wiring, r have we simply repeated the stry until it feels true?
Tw high-prfile sets f scans appear t ffer hard prf f a difference. British psychlgist Stuart Ritchie reprted in 2012 that male brains are, n average, rughly ne-tenth heavier than female brains and cntain mre white-matter. Three years later, Israeli neurscientist, Daphna Jel added that typical “his” r “her” circuits can’t be detected with advanced sftware, even thugh every head ultimately cntains a mix f bth — like shades that vary but never perfectly match passprt sex.
Lise Elit, a neurscientist at Chicag Medical Schl, believes such headlines are t dramatic. After re-analyzing thusands f images cllected acrss six cuntries, she calls the brain “a unisex (不分性别的) rgan”. The numeric gap between grup averages, she insists, is n wider than the difference between male and female kidneys, and the figures fail t predict hw the rgan actually prcesses algebra, empathy r parking instructins. Put simply, size decides nthing.
If bdy structure is nt the real bss, what is? Scial experience, argues The Atlantic Classic papers lved eye-catching numbers: a 1970 survey’ shwed bys beating girls thirteen-t-ne n the mathematics SAT, a figure nce highlighted by frmer Harvard president Lawrence Summers as prf f natural male scientific talent. When later student grups ffered girls equal labratry hurs, encuraged female teachers and rewrte textbks t include mre real-wrld prblems, the rati fell t three-t-ne, suggesting that pprtunity, nt bdy part, writes mst f the screbard.
Margaret McCarthy, a neurpharmaclgist at the University f Maryland, applauds Elit fr “frcing the debate frward”. She als ntes that wiping ut every sex difference wuld sund an extreme nte. Equal, she reminds us, is nt identical; bilgy may still whisper where sciety shuts.

A.T crrect statistical errrs in psychlgy.
B.T stress the risk f single-cuntry data sets.

D.T prvide scan evidence f sex differences.

      A. Advanced sftware can easily tell male and female brain circuits apart
      B. Everyne’s brain has a cmbinatin f male and female brain features
      C. Male and female brain traits always match a persn’s registered sex
      D. Male and female brain circuits have n difference at all

A.Brain size can smehw decide sex rules.B.Males d well in tackling cmplex tasks.
C.Generatin gaps utrun between-sex gaps.D.It cannt tell hw a persn will think r act.
64.What can we infer frm the falling math scre gap after 1970?

In a recent article, Markham Heid shares with us an unusual life crisis. At 41, he has built what many wuld regard as the gd life: he has a family; he is healthy, prductive, and creative; he has time t travel, read, exercise, and see friends. Yet, he feels that “smething is ff.” T fight against this feeling, sme f his friends have turned t special retreats, while thers try t slve it thrugh fitness. What makes Heid’s prblem smewhat dd is that it des nt seem t arise frm anything specific. If he had lst his jb, had n time fr himself, r was struggling in his marriage, the feeling wuld be understandable.
In the histry f philsphy, there have been many attempts t understand such a pwerful but bjectless feeling. Bredm, anxiety, depressin and despair are sme f the descriptins this md has received. Heid ends up attributing his crisis t the lack f new experiences. The Danish philspher Sren Kierkegaard calls this the “illusin f crp rtatin”, the idea that changing the envirnment frequently can save us frm this md. The German philspher Martin Heidegger als describes a similar state: ne may still be surrunded by the same peple and activities, but these n lnger engage us as they used t. He calls it a kind f “anxiety” created by nthing in particular. N wnder the psychlgist Sigmund Freud nce described anxiety as a “riddle.”
But what really drives this md is nt the need fr new experiences. It is nt even the particulars f ur individual lives r the cultures we belng t, but that we have been given a life t live in the first place, the taste f pssibility that cmes with being alive. This md is nt due t dubts like “D I have enugh hbbies?” r “Have I achieved my gal?” It is related t the mre fundamental questins like “What des it mean t be human?” “What am I suppsed t d with the fact that I was given a life?” and “What kind f life is pssible fr me?” This is why this md is likely t appear frequently in ur life. This is why nce many f ur life gals are fulfilled, we begin t wnder what life itself is fr.
These questins never have a final answer and they can always leave us with a great sense f anguish abut wh we are and hw we shuld g n. Nevertheless, recgnizing that these dubts are there, and that they matter, can at least allw us t knw what may be missing, even when everything is gd.
What is the main purpse f the first paragraph?
      A. T shw Markham Heid’s perfect life is envied by many peple
      B. T intrduce a cnfusing life crisis that lacks a specific cause
      C. T suggest special retreats and fitness are the best ways t slve the crisis
      D. T prve that a family and sme leisure activities can never bring happiness
67.The authr shares Markham Heid’s crisis mainly t________.
      A.present an argumentB.intrduce a tpic
      C.make an assumptinD.evaluate an event
68.Accrding t the authr, hw can the crisis in the passage be dealt with?
A.By studying philsphy.B.By develping new hbbies.
C.By ging travelling frequently.D.By embracing the bjectless feeling.
69.What des the wrd “anguish” underlined in the last paragraph mst prbably mean?
      A.Pain.B.Wnder.C.Directin.D.Achievement.
70.Which wuld be the best title fr the passage?
      A.What leads t a Life CrisisB.Letting G f Dark Mds
C.Bredm Makes Us HumanD.Anxiety Gives Us Life Gals
