“The key is nt t make the train run fast but t have it brake accurately (精准地) and steadily (平稳地),” Zha Hngwei f the China Academy f Railway Sciences tld CCTV News. The standard is that CR450 shuld have the same brake distance as CR400, which is 6,500 meters, even thugh it travels a lt faster. It can als start braking mre quickly, taking just 1.7 secnds cmpared t the 2.3 secnds needed fr CR400.
The engineers did lts f tests with the brakes t make the system better. In the tests, the brake disc (制动盘) gt really ht, reaching temperatures f up t 700℃. Its clr changed frm black t red. The changes were then recrded. The data was saved in a smart system t make a digital mdel f the brake system fr calculatins.
