    suffering(s)
    “t+adj./adv.(+fr sb.)+t d sth.”表示否定的 意义,意思是“太……而不能……”。t… t… 结构可与 s…that…结构互换,注意此时s的后面接形容词或副词, that后的从句用否定形式。(1)在t…t…结构中,如使用表示人的心情或意愿的、具有 积极意义的形容词,如eager, glad, happy, pleased, ready, willing等,通常无法用否定意义来解释。这时,不定式表示 肯定意义,t(前面通常有nly修饰)相当于very。

    as if (= as thugh)“仿佛;好像”,可用来引导表 语从句和方式状语从句。
    (1)as if是连词词组,意为“好像,好似”,相当于as thugh,常用 在be, lk, seem, sund, smell, feel等系动词之后,其意思是 “看起来好像……”。as if 所引导的从句如果表示的情况接近事 实,句子要用陈述语气;如果与事实相反,句子要用虚拟语 气。 (2)如果as if引导的从句中的主语和主句的主语相同,且从句中含 有be动词,可省略从句的主语和be动词,这样as if 后只剩下名 词、不定式、形容词(短语)、介词短语或分词。 She left the rm hurriedly as if (she was) angry. 她匆忙离开了房间,好像生气了。
