    Period 5 (Section B 3a-Self Check) 设计说明3a-Self Check部分是一个模仿性写作模块,让学生在听、说、读的基础上,尝试简单的语言输出。3a通过回答问题,让学生整体把握邀请函的格式、内容等,并复习相关短语,为后面的写作做准备。3b重点训练邀请函的书写格式,以及礼貌地接受邀请或拒绝邀请。教学目标1. 知识目标:(1)掌握新单词:opening,concert,headmaster,event,guest,calendar,daytime。(2)能够综合运用所掌握的知识并根据相关提示来完成写简单的邀请函及答复他人的邀请函的任务。(3)复习本单元重难点内容,及时巩固提高。2. 能力目标:通过写邀请函及答复他人的邀请函,达到综合运用所学知识的目的。3. 情感目标:学会人际交往的基本常识,学会有礼貌地邀请他人以及答复他人的邀请。重点难点1. 重点:(1)掌握新单词。(2)能用英语写邀请函及答复他人的邀请函。2. 难点:能用英语写邀请函及答复他人的邀请函。教学准备多媒体课件。教学过程Step 1 Warming up1. Show a picture of an opening,and then talk about the opening with students. T:What kind of event is it,do you know? S:It’s an opening ceremony. T:When do we usually have an opening? Do you know? S1:When a restaurant is open,we usually have an opening. S2:We usually have an opening before Olympic Games start. 2. Check Learning Task 1. Translate the following phrases into Chinese. (1)would like 想要(2)invite sb. to do sth. 邀请某人做某事(3)the opening of our new library 我们新图书馆的落成典礼(4)on the morning of Wednesday 在星期三的早上(5)school concert 学校音乐会(6)the school hall 学校大厅(7)bring one book as a gift 带来一本书当作礼品(8)reply in writing 以书面形式回复(9)by Friday 到星期五为止Step 2 PresentationTeach the new words:opening,concert,headmaster,event,guest,calendar,daytime. (板书新单词)For example:Show the picture to students. T:When a building is put into use,people often have a ceremony to celebrate it. It’s an opening. Read the new words and students repeat them after the teacher. Step 3 Reading1. Work on 3a. Read the invitation quickly and answer the questions:①Who is making the invitation? Headmaster. ②What is the invitation for? It is for the opening of the new library. ③Should guests reply to the invitation? Yes,they should. 2. Read the passage carefully and try to fill in the blanks. ·kind of event:the opening of our new library·when:on the morning of Wednesday,January 8th at 9:00·where:at No.9 High School·what guests should bring:bring one book as a gift for the new library·what guests can do after the opening:enjoy our school concert·when and how guests should reply:reply in writing to this invitation by Friday,December 20th3. Listen and repeat. Pay attention to the pronunciation and intonation. 4. Give students several minutes to read the text,and then try to retell the text according to the following information. (设计意图:通过快速阅读和仔细阅读,能让学生掌握本邀请函的几个要素:典礼性质、时间、地点、宾客需带的物品、典礼之后的活动以及如何回复邀请等,并根据这几个要素复读课文,为下一步写作积累素材。)5. Read the invitation again. Complete the English sentences according to the Chinese. (1)I would like (想要)to invite you to my birthday party(生日聚会). (2)I will have the party at home (在家). (3)It will be on the evening of Friday (在星期五的晚上) this week. (4)We will serve(提供;供应)delicious food and drinks. (5)After this (在此之后),we will sing and dance (唱歌和跳舞). 6. Cooperative inquiry. Discuss the following language points and fill in the blanks. (1)bring 与takebring意为“带来”,表示将人或物“带到/拿到自己(说话者)所在的位置”,常与here,me搭配。take意为“取走”,表示将人或物“拿开/带离自己(说话者)所在的位置”,常与there,away搭配。例如:Take these plates to the kitchen and bring some clean ones,please. 请把这些盘子拿到厨房去,并拿些干净的来。(2)Please reply in writing to this invitation by Friday,December 20th. a. reply in writing表示“以书面形式回复”。其中reply相当于answer,但要比后者更加书面化。此处介词in表示方式,相当于汉语“用……方式”。b. 在此句中,介词by意为“在……之前;到……为止”。介词before也有“在……之前”的意思,但区别在于before不包含其后的时间,而by则包括。试比较:You should get your homework ready by Friday. Remember:Friday is the last day! 你应当最迟于周五之前把作业准备好。记住:周五是最后一天! Can you come and meet me before Friday? I’ll be away early Friday morning. 你能在星期五之前来见我一面吗? 我星期五一大早就要走。Step 4 WritingWork on 3b. 1. Write an invitation to a party or any other event. The invitation must include the following information:·kind of event       ·when       ·where       ·what guests should bring       ·what guests can do       ·when and how guests should reply       2. They can use the following words and phrases:would like to...;will be...;after this...;please...;reply...3. T:Exchange your invitation with your partner. Then reply to his/her invitation. If you can’t accept his/her invitation,you should write some proper reasons. (1)Have students reply to the invitation. (2)Ask some students to read their replies to the class. Check if there are any mistakes. Sample writing:Dear Huang Lei,I would like to invite you to a farewell party for my brother. He is going to a university in Wuhan. The party will be at my house on Saturday,August 15th. You do not need to bring anything. My parents are serving food and drinks from 7:30 p. m. After the meal,everyone can dance. Please reply by next Monday. You can send me an e-mail to let me know if you can come. I hope you can make it! Guo YuStep 5 Pair work1. Read the calendar in 4. Make sure students know the activities of each day. 2. Tell students how to do it. 3. Read the model on the left. 4. Students ask and answer questions about when to go shopping together according to the calender. Then make a decision when to go shopping together. Answer:They can both go shopping on Sunday afternoon. 5. Ask some pairs to show their conversations. Step 6 Self CheckWork on Self Check 1. 1. Fill in the blanks in the conversation. 2. Let students read the conversation first and try to fill in the blanks. 3. Ask a pair of students to read the conversation to check the answers. 4. Work in pairs,and act out the conversation. Answers:Can,on;I’d;you;can’t;have;Can;might;I’llWork on Self Check 2. 1. Tell students how to do this task. T:You get these invitations but can’t go. Write a refusal and a reason. 2. Do the first one for the students as a model:I’m afraid I can’t. I have to prepare for the math exam. 3. Students try to complete the conversations. 4. Let some students show their own answers. Step 7 SummaryIn this period,we have learned:1. New words:opening,concert,headmaster,event,guest,calendar,daytime. 2. We have also learned how to write an invitation and reply to our friends’ invitations. 当堂达标(见导学案“当堂达标”)答案与解析:Ⅰ. 1. leave see sb. doing sth. 表示看到某人正在做某事;see sb. do sth. 表示看到某人做了某事或经常做某事,强调全过程。此处强调全过程,故用see sb. do sth. 。2. opening 空格前the是定冠词,修饰名词,故此处填open的名词形式opening。3. eating without是介词,意为“没有”,其后动词应用动名词形式。4. getting look forward to意为“盼望;期待”,其中to是介词,因此其后动词应用动名词形式。5. (to) cook,to cook help sb. (to) do sth. 是固定搭配,意为“帮助某人做某事”;how to cook意为“怎样做饭”。Ⅱ. One possible version: Dear Jim,Thank you very much for inviting me to your birthday party. I’d love to go but I can’t.
