Step 1 Warming up
1. Check homework.
Make a shopping list for classroom objects.
2. Review the numbers.
Play the video for the class to watch and sing along with it.
Can You Count from One to Ten
One little, two little, three little boys,
Playing with four little, five little toys.
Six little, seven little, eight little friends,
Nine little, ten little... let’s start again!
First there is one, then there is two,
Three, four and five... do I know you?
Six before seven and eight before nine,
The little numbers all in a line!
Step 2 Presentation
1. Tell the class how to say “0”.
We can say “zero”or “o” for “0”.
2. Get class to say the phone number below each picture.
3. Discuss what each number is for with the whole class.

4. Play the game.
Work in groups. Play the Telephone Number Game.

Step 3 Reviewing the words
1. Show the Chinese meanings of the new words in this unit to the class, and get them to read and spell the words.
Answers: need, student, plan, guess, excuse, classroom, list, classmate, later, fun, first, store, thing, show, around, lab, wall, eraser, borrow, Canada.
2. Get the class to search for words from this unit in the table, and write them down.
Step 4 Grammar
1. Explain the usage of be.
(1) be动词的用法
be动词的形式 | 与之连用的人称代词或名词 | 缩写 |
am | I | ’m |
is | 第三人称单数的代词(he, she, it)或名词 | ’s |
are | 第二人称(you)及复数 | ’re |
I’m from China. 我来自中国。
He/She is my classmate.他/她是我的同班同学。
Her name is Jenny.她叫詹妮。
You’re very nice. 你真好。
They’re my good friends. 他们是我的好朋友。
These rulers are long and thin.这些尺子又长又细。
(2)be动词的否定形式
be动词的否定形式要在其后直接加not,具体如下:
①am not不缩写。
I am not in Class 1. 我不在一班。
②is not可缩写成isn’t。
Li Ming is not/ isn’t my friend. 李明不是我的朋友。
③are not可缩写成aren’t.
All the students are not from Canada.
所有的学生都不是加拿大人。
助记:
be 动词的用法
“我”用am,“你”用are,
is 用于“他、他、它”(he, she, it)。
单数名词用 is,复数一律都用 are。
