Teaching procedures:
Step 1. Pre-learning
- Greetings.
- Guessing game.
Look at the picture on the screen and guess:
-What is the girl doing?
-She’s flying a kite.
- Enjoy an English song: Let your kite fly high.
- Brainstorming.
Let students brainstorm what we need to make a kite.
Step 2. While-learning
- Ask and answer:
Boys and girls, do you know how to make a kite?
- Learn the new words and the procedures of making a kite.
First, cut the bamboo.
And then, cut the paper.
Next, draw a picture and paint it with a brush.
Lastly, glue the paper on the bamboo and tie a string to the kite.
- Play a game: Simon says.
T: Simon says cut the paper.
Simon says draw a picture.
Draw a picture.
……
- Listen to the dialogue in Part A and fill in the blanks.
- Listen to the dialogue in Part A and repeat.
Step 3. Post-learning
- Group work.
Work in groups of three or four. Take turns to talk about how to make a kite.
- Show time.
Act out how to make a kite.
- Extension: Enjoy some pictures of DIY. Encourage students to make things on their own and cultivate their hands-on ability.
- Homework:
Copy the new words in Part B five times.
Tell your parents or friends how to make a kite.
