Unit3 Let’s make a kite.

Period one (Part A & Part B)

Teaching aims:

1. Knowledge goals:

(1) Grasp the new words: cut; draw; paint; glue; tie

(2) Grasp the structure: First,…And then,…Next,…Lastly,…

(3) Listen to and read the dialogue in Part A.

(4) Talk about how to make a kite.

2. Ability goals:

(1) Train students’ listening and reading skills.

(2) Enable Ss to express how to make things with the structure: First…,And then…,Next…,Lastly…

3. Moral goal:

Cultivate hands-on ability and love our life.

Learn to talk about how to make a kite and act it out.

Teaching procedures:

Step 1. Pre-learning

1. Greetings.
2. Guessing game.

Look at the picture on the screen and guess:

-What is the girl doing?

-She’s flying a kite.

3. Enjoy an English song: Let your kite fly high.
4. Brainstorming.

Let students brainstorm what we need to make a kite.

Step 2. While-learning

1. Ask and answer:

Boys and girls, do you know how to make a kite?

2. Learn the new words and the procedures of making a kite.

First, cut the bamboo.

And then, cut the paper.

Next, draw a picture and paint it with a brush.

Lastly, glue the paper on the bamboo and tie a string to the kite.

3. Play a game: Simon says.

T:  Simon says cut the paper.

Simon says draw a picture.

Draw a picture.

……

4. Listen to the dialogue in Part A and fill in the blanks.
5. Listen to the dialogue in Part A and repeat.

Step 3. Post-learning

1. Group work.

Work in groups of three or four. Take turns to talk about how to make a kite.

2. Show time.

Act out how to make a kite.

3. Extension: Enjoy some pictures of DIY. Encourage students to make things on their own and cultivate their hands-on ability.
4. Homework:

Copy the new words in Part B five times.

Tell your parents or friends how to make a kite.
