设计说明 首先通过询问自己是什么样的人导入新课,然后学习一些表示性格特征的词,学会用一些单词和短语来表示一个人的特点,由此开展对话。通过Hobo和Eddie的对话,引出本单元所涉及的话题,让大家对本单元产生兴趣。最后通过练习来复习本课时的内容。 教学目标 通过本课时的教学,让学生达成以下目标: 1.知识目标 掌握单词和短语:creative, curious, energetic, modest, organized, order,grammar, neither, nor, accountant, eat up, keep…in order, show off, come up with, neither…nor…。 2.能力目标 学会描述人物的性格特征。 3.情感目标 了解人物性格特征以及喜欢的工作,培养良好的个人品质。 重点难点 重点:学习描述人物性格特征的词和短语,并能灵活使用。 难点:能描述自己或他人的性格特征。 教学准备 PPT 课件;相关图片。 授课时数 1课时 教学过程 Step 1 Lead-in Show a question “What kind of person are you?” and ask the students to talk about the problem. T: What kind of person are you? S:… Step 2 Presentation 1. Show the students some pictures and present some new words. (1)like asking questions—curious (2)keeping everything in order—organized (3)never show off—modest (4)have a good sense of humour—humorous (5)be full of energy—energetic (6)come up with new ideas—creative 2. Ask the students to think about other words to describe a person. active, outgoing, careful, careless, honest, friendly… Step 3 Practice 1. Ask the students to talk about their own personality using the words. 2. Deal with A on Page 7. Choose the words to fill in the blanks. Answers: 1. organized 2. modest 3. patient 4. creative 5. curious 6. energetic 3. Deal with B. (1)Show some questions. Ask them to listen to the tape twice and answer the questions. Step 4 Comic strip 1. Ask students to watch the video about Hobo and Eddie. Answer the three questions. (1)What is the article about? (2)What makes generous people feel good? (3)What happened to Eddie’s breakfast? Answers:(1)Personality. (2)To share things with others. (3)Hobo had eaten it up. 2. Listen and read the dialogue in pairs. 3. Act it out. 4. Fill in the blanks according to the dialogue. Dear Diary, This morning, Hobo told me there was an interesting article about _________ in the newspaper. I wanted to have a __________, so he passed the newspaper to me. The article said, “Some people are _________. It makes them feel good to ________ things with others.” Hobo ________ with it. It says some people are generous.上面说有些人很大方。 say 及物动词,意为“说,写着,显示”。 The sign says, “No smoking!”牌子上写着,“不准抽烟!” The article doesn’t say where he is from. 这篇文章没说他从哪里来。 【拓展】It is said… 据说…… It is said that he has gone to America. 据说他已经去了美国。 2. It makes them feel good to share things with others. 与他人分享东西使他们感觉良好。 (1)make sb. do sth.意为“使某人做某事”。 Don’t make me wait for you so long.别让我久等。 【拓展】“make sb. +adj.”意为“使某人……”。 Being late made the boss angry. 迟到使老板生气。 (2)feel (felt, felt) 动词,意为“感觉,摸起来”,后接形容词作表语。 If you feel hot, you can take off your coat. 如果你感觉热,你可以脱下外套。3. eat up 意为“吃光,吃完”,为“动词+副词”结构,人称代词作宾语时 应放于eat和up之间。 You should eat up all your food!你应该吃光你所有的食物! Why not eat them up?为什么不吃光它们呢? 4. She keeps all her things in good order.她使她所有的东西保持井然有序。 keep... in good order 意为“使……保持井然有序”。 You should learn to keep your things in good order. 你应该学会使你的东西保持井然有序。 order n. 顺序; v. 命令 order sb. to do sth. 命令某人做某事 5. …but he is modest and never shows off. ……但他谦虚, 从不炫耀。 show off 意为“炫耀”。 You had better not show off. 你最好不要炫耀。 She likes showing off her new clothes.她喜欢炫耀自己的新衣服。 6. He often comes up with new ideas.他经常想出新主意。 come up with意为“想出(主意)”。 He came up with a good idea and helped us solve the problem. 他想出了一个好主意, 帮我们解决了这个问题。 7. Neither my parents nor I think I can make a good accountant. 我父母和我都认为我不能成为一名好会计。 (1)neither... nor...意为“既不……也不……”,在连接两个主语时,谓语动词要遵循“就近原则”。 Neither his parents nor he knows it.他父母和他都不知道那件事。 Neither he nor I am good at maths.他和我都不擅长数学。 (2)neither 的其他用法: ①代词,意为“两者都不,两者中没有一个”。neither of…意为“……中两者都不”。 Neither of them is a doctor. 他们俩都不是医生。 —Which of the two books do you like? 这两本书你喜欢哪一本? —Neither. 两本都不喜欢。 ②形容词,意为“两者都不的”,常放在单数可数名词前面。 Neither answer is right. 这两个答案都不对。 8. It’s terrible for me to work without speaking all day long. 对我来说整天工作而不说话很糟糕。 (1)It’s+ adj. + for sb. + to do sth.意为“对某人来说做某事是……的”。 It is important for us to learn English well. 对我们来说,学好英语很重要。 (2)without(doing)sth.意为“没有(做)某事”。 He went to school without having breakfast. 他没吃早饭就去上学了。 Step 6 Homework 1.
