That evening, Simon felt a little bit sick. His throat really hurt. He had ice-cream and hot chocolate to make it feel better. The next morning, when he opened his mouth to say, “Good morning”, nothing came out. “Honey, you have lost your voice,” said his mother, “Can I stay at home?” He tried to ask, but words didn’t come out. Instead, his mother checked him for a fever and pronounced him good to go to school, even if he couldn’t talk. How awful!

Simon sat in class, watching others talk to each other in groups. In math class, he could hold up fingers if the answer was less than 10, but that wasn’t fun. He decided to try to pay attention.
You know what? It wasn’t that bad. He could easily finish his homework that night. It gave him extra game time because his work was all done. The next day, even though his voice was coming back, he stayed quiet again. The third day, he could talk fine, but he listened and raised his hand to speak.

We all know the strange feeling of watching the time change on a clock. You never see it change because the hands move so slowly. But of course, the time is changing all the time.
Human faces, like clock faces, are also changing. And like clocks, the changes take place too slowly to be noticed. Over many thousands of years, though, huge changes are possible. For example, the human brain tripled (三倍) in size and began to think more. Our faces became flatter (平坦的).
If our heads became larger in the past, how will things change in the future? Unlike the changes of a clock face, the changes in human faces are very difficult to predict (预测). One of the main reasons for this is the way in which we can now control parts of nature. Hundreds of thousands of years ago, all changes were natural, but now we can actively choose ways for our own evolution (进化).
Just a few hundred years ago, most humans were working in the fields, whereas nowadays more and more people receive education. These are just predictions, and no one can be sure how human beings will become in the future. But with such huge changes in our environment, it seems likely that we will look very different in the future.

One year ago, I asked a worker to help me repair my old house. He had a bad first day of the job. His car broke down on the way, and then he found he had left his tools for work at home and his wife telephoned to say his son had a bad cold. While I drove him home, he was silent all the way. When we arrived, he invited me to meet his family.
As we walked towards the front door, he stopped at a small tree and touched the tree with his hands.
When we opened the door, I was very surprised to see that the worker wore a big smile. It seemed that he changed into another person. He hugged his son and gave his wife a kiss.
After a while, when he walked to the car, I asked him why he had touched the tree.
“Oh, that’s my trouble tree,” he answered. “Sometimes I have trouble with my job, but one thing is for sure—it doesn’t belong to my wife or my son. So I just hang up the trouble on the tree every night when I come home. Then the next morning I pick it up. However, when I pick it up, I hardly remember what I put the night before.”

【答案】例文:
As teenagers, we are the future of our homeland. We should develop ourselves fully. But how? Here is my opinion.
Basically, we should build up our bodies by taking some exercise, doing some sports, such as running, swimming, playing basketball and so on. In this way, we can keep ourselves strong and healthy.
What’s more, developing some interests is a good way to make ourselves fully developed. We can learn to play the piano, sing songs, dance, collect stamps, draw pictures and so on. As a saying says. “You can never too old to learn.”
In addition. I think it’s our duty to do some housework at home. We should help do some cleaning, water the flowers or walk the dog. Then our parents can live an easier life. Also, by doing this, we can learn to be independent and get ourselves well prepared for the future life.
