A science fiction flying car looks like a normal car, but it is an aircraft (飞行器) that anybody can fly directly from any place to another without using roads or runways. Science fiction writers have written about flying cars for a long time. But now flying cars will soon fly out of the world of science fiction into our real world. And the dream of the science fiction writers will soon come true.
The first-known sky car is the FSC-1. The FSC-1 looks like an expensive sports car. You can drive the FSC-1 on the road like a normal car. If you touch a button, its wings and propeller (螺旋桨) fold out and then it can take off, fly and land as an airplane. The owners of the FSC-1 can choose if they want to drive or fly.
Another flying car or sky car is the Moller Skycar M400. Although you can’t drive it on the roads, it is small and easy to fly and can take off and land like a helicopter (直升飞机). Urban Aeronautics’ X-Hawk is another type of sky car. It is expected to be available for about $3 million.
Just like any new technology, flying cars have taken a long time to be developed. But some experts think the technology is far from what people imagine when they are sitting in traffic. It still needs to be improved.

Is there a way to quickly recall information just before taking an exam? Walking backward might be a good way. Scientists in the study said this activity can help people improve their short-term memory.
Scientists asked 114 volunteers to watch a video. After watching the video, they were divided into three groups. One group was told to walk ten meters forwards. The second group walked ten meters backward. The third group stood in one place. All three groups were then asked twenty questions about what they saw in the video.
The scientists found that the backward-walking group got two more correct answers than the other two groups. This suggests that the connection between time and space is important in terms of how our minds form memories. When you walk backward, you see things from a different angle (角度) compared to walking forward. This difference helps people recall things that happened in the past.
Walking backward is not just good for our brains. It’s also good for the rest of our body.
Compared to walking forward, it’s more challenging. This can help us improve our health, according to New Scientist. Walking backward uses more energy in a short time and burns more calories.
Walking backward could be helpful for people who often have pain in their knees. Walking backward also keeps our spines (脊椎) strong and fit. This might be why many old people like walking backward.

B.describe how scientists did their experiment
C.show who can answer more questions correctly
D.explain why walking backward improves memory

In Britain you may often hear “Drop in any time” or “Come to see me soon”, but you can’t really do that. People just say those things to make you feel welcome. It is better to telephone before visiting someone at home. If you receive a written invitation to an event that says “RSVP”, you should reply to let the person who sent the invitation know whether or not you plan to go.
You should never accept an invitation unless you really plan to go. You may refuse by saying, “Thank you for inviting me, but I will not be able to come.” If, after accepting, you are unable to go, be sure to tell those who are expecting you as soon as possible that you will not be there.
Though it is not necessarily expected that you give a gift to your host, it is considered polite to do so, especially if you have been invited for a meal. Flowers, chocolate, or a small gift are all appropriate. A thank-you note or telephone call after the visit is also considered polite and is an appropriate way to express your appreciation for the invitation.
32.What can you do when a British friend says “Drop in any time”?
A.Visit him or her soon.
B.Visit him or her at any time.

What’s causing global warming? Is it a man-made disaster(灾难)? Or are temperatures simply changing naturally? Whatever the case is, we can at least try to slow things down. But how?
The Nicodemus Wilderness Project suggests that we should plant trees. If the Earth has more trees, greenhouse gases will be reduced. Trees also cut down on water pollution, and provide habitats for wildlife to live in. What’s more, they improve human health by producing oxygen (氧气) and improving air quality. In fact, if we plant one tree, just one, it will have lots of benefits for our planet. A tree not only takes in a lot of harmful greenhouse gases over its lifetime, but also produces much oxygen for people. And it provides the cooling effect like an air conditioner does.
In fact, lots of people have already done so. Tree planting is becoming more and more popular as a way to take part in protecting the environment. The Canopy Project planted one million trees in 2010 as part of the AVATAR Home Tree Initiative. In total, trees were planted in 16 countries. In Belgium, the Organization for Forests worked with private land owners to help them plant trees. In Germany, a young man named Felix Finkbeiner has been leading a global movement to plant more trees. He was nine when he came up with the idea of planting trees around the world. And, what can you do to help? Well, you could go to your local garden center and buy a tree, although you’d need to get advice on how to look after it properly so that it can survive (生存). Besides, you can join a tree planting project.

Anger is a kind of feeling. Many things can make you angry. When your teacher gives you too much homework, when your team loses an important game, when you lend your favorite thing to your friend but he or she breaks (打破) it, you may get really angry.
Usually, your body will tell you when you are angry. But anger must be let out in the right way without hurting others or yourself. Let me give you some advice.
When you get angry, it’s helpful to talk about your anger with other people. When you talk about anger, those bad feelings can start to go away.
