Every year, students in Grade Ten in our school can ask for jobs as summer camp workers. The camp also wants students in Grade Nine with good grades. I asked, though I could not get the job because I wasn’t good at my lessons.

Fewer than half the students could get the jobs, so I was surprised and felt happy when I got the job. Paying about $20 a week, the job was babysitting for 20 small children.

After I started the job, I learned how I got it. My English teacher, Mr. Smith, said good words for me because he thought the job could help me with my lessons.

Resolutions are promises to ourselves. They may help to make you a better person and to make your life easier. For the coming year, I am going to make three resolutions.

The first resolution is about how to do better at school. I hope I can get better grades. So I decide to listen to the teacher carefully and ask the teacher or classmates for help if I have any problems. What’s more, I must do my homework and take notes as carefully as I can.

The second resolution is about improving my relationships with my family and friends. Sometimes I have problems with friends. I think I will talk with them because talking to them helps a lot. And I will be more helpful and outgoing. The most important thing is that we’d better learn from each other and help each other. Sometimes I have problems with my parents. I don’t think they always understand me, but I believe they love me. When they don’t understand me, maybe I will write them a letter.
