To master the usage of new words and sentence patterns: Words: enjoyable, activity, decide, try, paragliding, feel like, bird, bicycle, building, trader, wonder, difference, top, wait, umbrella, wet, because of below, enough , hungry, as, hill Sentence patterns: I wonder what life was like here in the past. The food tasted great because I was so hungry. Because of the bad weather, I couldn’t see anything below 3. To improve students’ reading abilities. Processes and Methods: Task-based and communication method. Group work. Emotion objectives: 1. To help students enjoy life by learning to enjoy different kinds of activities. 2. Stimulate the patriotic enthusiasm of students. |

教学过程 | 1. Warming up : lead in 1) Free talk: Ask students about their vacations: lead in the topic:experiences while taking a vacation. Ask students to give their reports. -Where did you go on vacation? - I went to ..... - Did you to out with anyone? - Yes, I went there with my parents. - How were the food and weather? - The food tasted delicious but the weather was so hot. - Did you buy any gifts? - Yes, I bought gifts for my grandparents. Then report the student’s experience as an example for students to follow. He went to ___ on vacation with his family. The food there was really delicious. Everything was excellent, but the weather was hot. I bought gifts for his grandparents. They had a great time! Give the students chances to do the reports according to the conversations between the students. 2) Watch a video and talk about the paragliding in Penang. (1) What is he doing? (2) How is the weather? (3) Where is the place? Help them to answer the questions to lead in the new words and come to the topic: vacation experiences. Remind them to use the simple past tense to describe one’s vacation experiences. 2. Presentation: 1) Show the new words on the screen. Teach the new words. Read after the tape. 2) Show the pictures of activities and ask students to guess what they did on vacation. Present the key phrases in this period: go paragliding, climb the mountains; feel like as a bird, wonder that....., hungry 3) Show the new words and phrases on the screen. Read the words after the tape. Read the phrases loudly to get familiar with them. 4) Practice the phrases by making conversations: A: Where did you go on vacation? B: I went to ..../ visited.... 3. Inquiring learning Pre-reading: 1) Discuss the questions with your partner (2a): What do people usually do on vacation?/ What activities do you find enjoyable? 2) Ask several students to give their answers. 3) Show the pictures of “diary” on the screen, get student to know the forms of a “diary”. 4) Work in group. Try to answer the following questions and do a report. While reading 1) Skimming for the information: Did Jane have a good time on Monday? What about on Tuesday? Then listen to the tape to check the answers together with the students.(Jane had a good time on Monday, but not on Tuesday.) 2) Scanning for the specific information. Mark T or F for the following statements. Check answers on the PPT.(FFTFF) 3) Carefully reading :Read the passage again carefully to finish off the chart of 2c. Then check the answers on the PPT. Post-reading 1) Complete the conversation about Jane’s trip to Penang using the information in the diary entries. 2) Check the answers on PPT. 4. Practice and consolidation 1) Read the passages loudly. 2) Fill in the blanks according to imagination about Jane’s trip to Penang Hill again in 2e. 3) Check the answers. 4) Read loudly about the description of the trip. 5) Get students to retell the experiences of Jane’s Monday trip and Tuesday trip: (Who.... Where.... What.... How....) 6) Consolidation: Choose the right words to fill in the blank to get strengthen the mastering the usage of the compound infinite pronouns; Translate the sentences to practice the sentence structures and the usage of the simple past tense. 5. Summary 1).The new words: enjoyable, activity, decide, try, paragliding, feel like, bird, bicycle, building , trader, wonder, difference, top, wait, umbrella,wet, because of, below, enough , hungry, as, hill 2). Sentence patterns: I wonder what life was like here in the past./The food tasted great because I was so hungry./Because of the bad weather, I couldn’t see anything below. 3). How to write a diary. 6. Homework 1). Write a letter to your friend about what you did on your vacation. 2). Remember the new words and phrases we learned today. 3). Try to keep a diary about your experience in the past as an oral homework.
