While-task procedure
| 1. Look and write (1) Ask students to look at several pictures and use proper prepositions to indicate the positions of the pet. in, on, under (2) Ask students to look at some other pictures and teach them the new phrase. next to, behind, in front of, between (3) Ask students to read the new phrase for several times. (4) Show another picture to students and ask them to complete the sentences according to the picture by using ‘next to, behind, in front of, between’.
2. Ask and answer Show a picture to students, then ask them to work in pairs and make dialogues by using the given sentence structures. A: Where is the …? B: It’s next to… behind… in front of… between…
3. Look and learn (1) Show some pictures to students and teach them the new words in the text. armchair, sofa, TV set, rug, cupboard, opposite (2) Ask students to read these new words for several times. Show some pictures to compare. 4. Listen and say (1) Ask students to listen to the recording and repeat the dialogue on p37 sentence by sentence. (2) Ask students to do soft reading by themselves. (3) Ask students to work in pairs and act out the dialogue. 5. Look, point and say Show the pictures of Mrs Li’s flat and the furniture to students. Ask them to point at the furniture and tell where David should put it in Mrs Li’s new flat.
